Since we couldn't find a hotel downtown available we are staying out at the Opryland hotel. This will be a first time staying there...have any of you stayed there before?
Where are you all staying this year?

If we are dead tired - we hail a taxi!!!!! We love staying there. We usually are walking back with the huge groups that stay there, and we laugh and have a blast.

We're coming into town a couple of times that week and I'm pretty sure we're staying at the Mainstay Suites out in Brentwood both times. I think it's about 10 or 11 miles from the Belcourt Theater.

Leah, we have stayed at the Opryland Hotel a couple of times. It's absolutely beautiful. I'm sure you'll be really busy, but do take time to walk around the hotel. The atrium is just lovely and they have several really good restaurants.

We had a great time walking with people back to the hotel also cathy. After a few drinks my friend was not so thrilled about the walk but man did we laugh on those nightly walks. I also think that hotel is the best value for downtown. We looked into booking but you had to book 5 nights during the festival.
Becky...we have been in there and walked around and even took the boys on the boat ride in there but we never got farther than the atrium. I am looking forward to staying there for the experience plus they have a shuttle that continuously runs to and from downtown so that will be really helpful as the last time we were in town we stayed out near Vanderbilt and it cost us a fortune in taxi fares.

Whatever happened to that train they were setting up over near McGavick Pike? I saw years ago where they were getting what looked to be a train station together and I thought it was going to be for the purpose of shuttling people into the city, but I have never seen a train there, nor heard anything about it actually running?

We have stayed at the Sheraton and at the Hilton, but really like HIExpress better. No real reason - but we just do. Next year, we may stay at the Hilton again - - - - THAT WAS NICE===but pricey with just two of us. This year, like I said - - - there are nine of us!

I can't believe how much they have raised the prices at the downtown hotels over the past few years....craziness but people pay it so they just keep raising the prices. I would like to stay at the Hilton or that new Hampton Inn downtown sometime.

We have a room out by the airport since we weren't planning on attending this year. I think Jennifer is still checking other areas too. Thankfully she plans ahead and had the current hotel booked for a great price. We have stayed there before, nice price but you do have to drive in everyday. In the past we have stayed at the Hilton, but it just got to expensive, and we have stayed at the Hampton Inn which was wonderful, a bit pricey but much lower than the Hilton! Still trying to figure this trip out, nothing else is booked, no concert tickets or anything! I probably should start looking around instead of letting others do all the work!!

Pam....the Opryland hotel still had a few packages left at a good price. If 4 people are staying in a room it was like $380 each for tickets, hotel and shuttle downtown and back. Might be worth looking into. They also have a promotion where if your Anniversary is the month of June you can get a free night at the hotel....doesn't say you have to bring your husband...lol

Since I am now retired - - - - those prices may prevent me from going next year. Since we don't rent a car - it is very expensive for taxis back and forth from the outskirts of town. We like to go to the room for a bit during the day, back and forth, so it is kind of reasonable for us to spend the extra $$$$$ to stay downtown. It is only $6 for a carload to be driven to our room at night from The Wildhorse, so it's worth that!!!!! Just to go to Nashville Palace and back by taxi is $60

Not really sure about taxi prices normally - but I know one year we went to Nashville Palace and Nightlife several times, and each time, it was $60 roundtrip. Gets expensive after a while!!

Hi: Don't forget about Metro buses. Here's a link:

http://www.nashvillemta.org/

Also, the train is Music City Star. This website also has its train schedule.
