Hey everyone...was just reading some online news article and came across this billboard blog about Vince..thought I would share it with you all...
* Uber guitar player and super nice guy Vince Gill is working on a new non-genre album that will include Dianna Krall, John Anderson and Del McCoury, among others. * How can you not love the Vinster? First, he gives his Humanitarian of the Year award to a Make-A-Wish child, then we find out he recently played Nashville’s Station Inn with western swing band the Time Jumpers because “they needed a guitar player.” Vince’s take for the gig? “I made 26 bucks. I got enough money to take me and Amy to Waffle House.” Hope Vince and Amy enjoyed their trip to the Waffle House!!! -------------------- Becky

Thanks Becky for sharing that...
Last year at fan fair we hit the Station Inn on the last night we were there... we got there late but heard a few songs. I was sitting there and recognized two of the members of the band playing... the band was "The Time Jumpers". The two I recognized... John Hughey and Dawn Sears. I had heard that Vince showed up there from time to time... I did find this from the Station Inn website which linked off to the bands website... The Time Jumpers is a Western Swing band comprised of eleven of Nashville's finest studio musicians and vocalists: Kenny Sears, Joe Spivey, Aubrey Haynie, John Hughey, Dennis Crouch, Andy Reiss, Rick Vanaugh, Jeff Taylor, Carolyn Martin, Dawn Sears and "Ranger Doug" Green. -------------------- Mary

I know this is off topic but it's driving me nutz. Anna, here is a sample of how to post with bold, script and color, except I put a space inbetween everything so it would not post my name. the [b] is for bold, etc. and you need brackets [] surrounding the b, i, color, etc. (I didn't put the brackets on the sample, you DO need to have them) You have to have it before your name and after your name (with the /) [b] i color=#CC33CC size=4 ~Pam~ /size /color /i /b -------------------- ~Pam~

I know!!! There are like a 'gazillion' Waffle Houses in the Nashville area!!! Of course, we have about as many down here in Alabama too!!! And Cracker Barrell's!!!
I know this is off-topic, but Amy has a compilation cd at Cracker Barrell right now..it's called 'Hymns For the Journey'...it's Amy's favorites from the Legacy cd and the Rock of Ages cd...no new songs on it...but it's a really great cd...just thought I would throw that tidbit in, since I mentioned Cracker Barrell!! -------------------- Becky

Btw, Kenny Sears is Dawn Sears husband...he's the one that plays the fiddle on the Opry...tall and very slim and always wears a cowboy hat...I think he usually has a beard and mustache...just throwing that in also!!! I would love to see the Time Jumpers sometime...I was told that they did a live dvd back in April...maybe I'll have a chance to buy a copy sometime soon!!!

Beka, we have a lot of them around here too. I've been to quite a few in my time, I always check out the songs. When they don't have Vince - I tell them about it. I've told them that Vince was their biggest contributor and they should at least have 1 of Vince's songs on the jukebox.

[b]Thanks, Mary, for the link. When I saw the story about the live DVD I was looking for the website but didn't put the "the" in front, kept looking for Time Jumpers and couldn't find it. That's a cute website with that clock clicking.

I *love* Waffle House, but we don't have any around here. I know there is at least one in Beaumont, and maybe some around Houston, but not sure about that. In FL we had 2 in Davie, which was north of us, but didn't get there often because they were always so crowded, especially on Sundays, which is when we went out for breakfast. We did eat there a few times when we would be leaving on vacation or to go to Orlando, and we would always eat at a Waffle House in Kissimmee when we were there, and in Nashville...we would try to eat at as many as possible because we knew that after vacation we wouldn't get any more until we went to Orlando again. Now we know we won't get any until we go on vacation again.
Beka, we have a lot of them around here too. I've been to quite a few in my time, I always check out the songs. When they don't have Vince - I tell them about it. I actually prefer IHOP's to Waffle House. I find that the Waffle House's are usually crowded and the food there is kind of greasy..well around here anyway...but, if you're looking for a place that stays open 24 hours, Waffle House is a good place to stop!!!

I love Waffle House's waffles...I'll also sometimes get their fried eggs, but perfer the waffles over anything else there. My grandmother also likes their Cinamon Raisen Toast that they have. The first year we went to Nashville (when Opryland was still around), I got an omlette at Waffle House and it wasn't completely done...it was still a little runny...well, I ate it anyways, and a little later on at Opryland I came down with a major case of cramps...I was running to the bathroom every 5 minutes! I guess it was a mild case of food poisoning from the eggs not being done enough. We had tickets to see Doug Stone later that night and my father asked if I wanted to go back to the motel and skip the concert. I said NO WAY...I wasn't going to go to that concert no matter what!!!! By the time it was time for the concert, I was feeling much better. After that I refused to eat another Waffle House omlette.
I do like IHOP, also...we go there for breakfast every Sunday morning before Church, since it's right up the street from the Church we've been going to. The wait to be seated on Sundays can usually run from 10-20 minutes, but once they seat you the service is pretty quick. IHOP has good breakfasts...and some of the best pancakes around. Our IHOP is also open 24 hours...so is the McDonalds that is right there. IHOP, Chili's and McDonald's are all right next to each other...they all share the same parking lot, and that McDonald's is now open 24 hours, also. It's the only one around that's open 24 hours. -------------------- Valerie

I *love* Waffle House, but we don't have any around here. I know there is at least one in Beaumont, and maybe some around Houston, but not sure about that. Well I know there is a Waffle House in Vidor which is a little closer to you than Beaumont. I know this because it was the ONLY place open (they had no food however) when I was working Rita, after Katrina. They would open, run their generator and we'd go in once a day to have a water that was cold -------------------- ~Pam~

Pam,
I'm pretty aure that was the one I was thinking of, but couldn't remember the exact name of the town. One year when we were on our way here for vacation, we stayed overnight in the Vidor/Beaumont area and I'm pretty sure we ate breakfast at that Waffle House. If you like waffles, they have the best. Well I know there is a Waffle House in Vidor which is a little closer to you than Beaumont. I know this because it was the ONLY place open (they had no food however) when I was working Rita, after Katrina. They would open, run their generator and we'd go in once a day to have a water that was cold -------------------- Valerie
