Most of yoiu alrady have heard the story of Vince and his snake encounter while in Las Vegas. Here's more from Countrynation.com
" Vinnie and the Snake -- As we told you earlier, Vince Gill had a terrifying encounter with a snake, while golfing in Las Vegas last weekend. We now have additional info. Country Music Across America's Storme Warren, who was with Gill on the golf course, says, "If it had been 3 inches away from me, I can't say I wouldn't have reacted the same way. The snake is a common desert gopher snake, also known as a "Phlegm Serpent" (seriously). They kill their prey by constriction and suffocation. They are not poisonous, but often behave defensively like a rattler. This one was about 4 and 1/2 feet long," Warren explains. "Vinnie is deathly afraid of snakes, due in part to a recurring dream where he's diving off a high-dive into a pool. In the dream, when he gets in the air, the water dissappears and is replaced by snakes." Yikes!! Vince is fine. But they're still looking for Storme" |

I heard about this encounter and let me tell ya...I would have freaked right out had this happened to me. The first thing I thought of when I heard this story was how Amy told a story last year about her camping in their camper with the kids when they found a snake. I believe Amy hit the snake and then grabbed it and threw it out. Apparently she doesn't have the same fear that Vince and I both have...brave woman!!! LOL
Thanks for sharing this with us mary anne. |

Sorry about that last post. Obviously I clicked on the wrong thing.
I meant to reply that maybe Vince will be able to sing higher now, after his encounter with the snake!! I despise snakes also. That's why we keep several cats outside. |

Well, I'm not a big fan of snakes either..not since we found a full grown copperhead in our backyard last summer!!! I was sure the whole neighborhood heard me yelling 'there's a snake in the backyard'...I was wondering why it never moved although I was yelling my head off...it had become entangled in the plastic mesh that is on the underside of the sod when they sodded the backyard...so, he was stuck there and couldn't move...well, needless to say, after I retrieved a few tools from the basement, the snake didn't live much longer...however, our dog (Chloe, our yellow lab), did get bitten by the snake..thankfully, she suffered no ill effects of the bite...I think maybe the snake may not have been able to get close enough to really bite her well and invenomate her...
I have never liked snakes and never will...I am willing to let one go that I know is not poisonous, but we have alot of copperheads and rattlesnakes around here...and we don't let them escape if we can help it!!! Poor Vince...I can see why he has a fear of snakes with a recurring dream like that...glad he was able to recover and birdie that hole!!! Seems Vince is good at recovering...he's had his share of mishaps..like the shocking microphone at the Opry a few years back...and he always recovers quite well...that's better than I could say I would do, given the circumstances!!! -------------------- Becky

I suppose there is one topic that Vince won't want to be talking about anytime soon!!! Can't say that I blame him...that's a terrifying experience...and yes, Cathy..I am so glad it wasn't poisonous and that Vince is ok...hope he stays well away from any snakes for a long, long time!!!

Oh no!! I hadn't heard this story! I think it's okay for a man to scream like a girl if there's a snake involved. It must be in the men's handbook somewhere. My friend, who is a big strapping Air Force guy, stepped on a little garter snake in his bare feet and I know his voice went a full five octaves higher after that incident...and he hasn't been barefoot since!!
So, do you think Vince would appreciate a souvenir snake the next time we see him? Haha!! -------------------- Mary Redd

That is such an awful story. Poor Vince, his heart must have been beating right out of his chest. Especially, if you don't like snakes anyway. I'm glad he didn't get hurt when he fell.
We also have two cats, but the one is useless with anything like that. We had a mouse inside our vent that is above the stove. It has happend a couple of times since we lived here, and I always know because I will hear clinking in there. So, we were trying to catch him, and I saw him come out, and I held Pinto (our extremely lazy cat) right up to the mouse, literally 3 inches from him. Pinto paid no attention. That is when we began to wonder if Pinto might be a little slow. -------------------- Mary Lou ~ A good friend brings out the best in you, and accepts the worst
