Our SallieMae center got some bad news today...the company is closing the center because of the cutbacks that need to be made after the government took over the student loan business. I'm considered a 'seasonal' employee and only scheduled to be there until Sept 5, but there was hope, at least until today, that that would be extended yet again. Come Sept. I'll have been working at teh company for 1 year, 3 months, and 1 year of that will be an actual Sallie Mae seasonal employee. Everybody was bummed about it, you could hear the collective "What?!?!?!?!?!" when we were informed of the closing. 500 people will be out of a job by early next year...they're expecting the center to close completely by the end of the year.

Thanks, guys! I've been looking in the newspaper and online but nothing really available that I'm qualified for. A lot of the positions are darycare/preschool workers, nurses and factory workers and I refuse to go back working in a factory killing my hands for minimum wage

So sorry Val, it is hard now - a very bad economy. It took our oldest daughter 6 months to find a job once she started to look but she is in Calif. in the high tech industry and that is totally different to other places and I'm going to see her end of May. Can hardly wait!
