Vince played to a very appreciative and packed house at our beautiful historical Cascade Theater on Weds 10/19... and for me and Don, it was the dream of a lifetime having front row DIRECT CENTER seats. It was amazing!! He played for almost 2 1/2 hours with his usual funny anecdotes. We could actually see his fingers hit each guitar fret... his guitar playing was amazing as always and his voice just soared. It was fantastic! Dawn Sears sang harmony vocals... Pete Wasner was on keyboards... the band was amazing as usual. The time just FLEW by too fast and before we knew it, it was time for the encore.
We had meet 'n greet tickets and were asked to line up on the right side of the stage. We were like 8 couples back so I took that opportunity to race to the ladies room and when I came back, I could see ahead that Vince was already talking to Don!! I was like, excuse me excuse me, Vince is talking to my husband right now!! I raced up and said "I can't believe I almost missed my turn!! and Vince said "Nah, we'd have waited for you." He was his usual funny and gracious self. Don says it was absolutely unbelievable but Vince just walked out through the stage door and started introducing himself. Like, Hi I'm Vince ... and shook hands with the first people in line!! He said the first couple were speechless and Vince said "Nice to meet you and thanks for coming. I'm a little tired... I just got off work..." Everybody cracked up. He was sooo nice. He signed my CD case filled with all my VG CDs and I told him the only one missing was the Notorious Cherry Bombs which is currently in my car. He got a kick out of that. I gave him a Think Pink (breast cancer awareness) calendar that had a beautiful picture of Redding's Sundial Bridge that Amy mentioned when she was here a few weeks ago during her concert. She said she'd walked our bridge and thought it was beautiful... so I gave the calendar to Vince and told him maybe he could give it to her and she might get a kick ut of it. He seemed to think that was pretty cool. I thanked him for putting Redding on his schedule, that we all loved him here and Don and I both told him we couldn't WAIT for the new CD. He was wonderful... so nice and amazingly patient and gracious with everybody. And I need to mention he looked GREAT. He is slim and trim and healthy!! Another highlight was meeting Krissy (from here on the Board). She too was at the concert and the meet 'n greet. Don took a picture of us that I'll share in our Christmas cards this year! (along with our pics with Vince of course). The whole night was just amazing -- I'll never forget it!!!!! |

I think the only time when Vince didn't introduce himself was at the Fan Club Party! I know the few times I've met him at concerts, he introduced himself. When I met him in Pompano Beach back in 2003, he just casually walked out on the inside stage (there was the outdoor stage, then an indoor stage), he then sat on the stage for a few minutes, then just jumped down and stood against the stage and met with everybody.
