Very happy to say that I was in attendance for this concert. Vince was amazing and need to give equal nod to his fine band. I appreciated seeing him in a smaller venue, I think it provides for more of a connection to the fan experience. The Sunrise Theater holds 1200 and it was sold out.
Elated for many reasons, including that this was a birthday gift to me. The previous day I turned 54 and can't think of a better way to enjoy it than experiencing a concert with Vince. I had a meet and greet to boot, how cool is that? I never want to seem ungrateful for the opportunity to meet with Vince. However, I was reminded that in esp. smaller towns, that the theaters are largely dependent on subscribers of a certain tier or contributors of fat checks to sustain them. I soon learned that I had to show up to a specially denigrated room for the meet and greet, there were app. 25 there. It only took me a minute or two to ascertain that I was likely the only one here from the FC. Most appeared to have that "local" look about them, nothing wrong with that! It's just that I am aware that many of these subscribers and fat check writers get the meet and greets as a perk. I don't mean to imply for a moment that each of them did not enjoy seeing Vince live. I suppose that I am feeling a bit protective of wanting to assure that all present for the meet and greets are true fans. The bottom line on this is that I do want others to support the arts and know in my heart that it was not a negative experience for me, but rather a protective one. I hope to accomplish a blog about my humorous adventure there. Lol, what a honest and funny open fan letter this will be to Vince. |
