Full Version: Vince's connection to St. Jude appreciated

When I was an active member of earlier VG message boards, I recall a young lady named "Terra" (if I'm remembering correctly). She was a patient at St. Jude Children's Hospital and had met Vince Gill. Sadly, she passed away far too young.

Never in a million years did I think we'd find ourselves in similar circumstances but we did. In 2004, my 9-year old son was diagnosed with high risk T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He has just recently finished over 2 years of treatment which included radiation to his brain and almost daily chemotherapy and is doing well. biggrin.gif St. Jude plays a huge role in the increasing improvement of treatments and people like Vince and Amy continue to support the massive effort of keeping St. Jude on the cutting edge.

I owe a huge debt of gratitude to each person who has supported the advancements at every center. Thank you.

Long time no see, Bren! So sorry to hear about your son being diagnosed with cancer. And yes, it was Terra who was a patient at St. Jude's. I remember the time when Vince called her up onstage to sing with him at the Opry. He told the audience his 'girlfriend' was in the audience and wanted to bring her up onstage to sing with him.

Thanks for the w/b, Valerie!

Yeah, I couldn't remember if Terra had met VG at St. Jude via a 'wish' or exactly how she had connected with him, I just remember it was a highlight she was thrilled to pieces about. I also remember her many posts and how she was an active member of the earlier boards and how crushing it was to lose her even if many of us hadn't met her in person.

Actually,Vince met Terra at Vanderbilt's Childrren's Center in Nashvile, not St. Judes, though Vince has been involved with doing benefits and charity work for St. Judes. Prayers are sent your way for your son and family, Bren, hope he continues to do well.

Hi Bren, Good to see your post! I'm so sorry about what your son has been through and hope that things continue to look up for him & your family.

It was nice to attend a concert last week with Sugarland, Little Big Town and Rodney Atkins who were donating portions of the tickets proceeds to St. Jude's research. Rodney Atkins had a little girl who was being treated at St. Judes come up on stage and sing a couple lines with him and then he broke down for a few moments as did many in the crowd.
I like the fact that many country artists seem to have big hearts.
Always good to hear about the good things St. Jude's is doing.
