Wow, Anna...what a list. Hubby will be thrilled to know that James Garner comes from Norman, too...one of his favorites. I couldn't believe how many familiar names there are on that list...even Brad Pitt????? Also, isn't Carrie Underwood from Oklahoma, too?

Trish
Becky
Oh Trish, your hubby is a James Garner fan too!!! I was ecstatic when I found our several years ago that he and Vince are both from Norman!!! I've loved James Garner since 'Rockford Files'!!! Several months ago they dedicated a statue to James Garner in Norman and he came back there to be a part of the dedication and rode in the town parade that day...would have loved to have been there...but Oklahomas a long time from way from Alabama!!!

Anna, that is quite an impressive list of famous people from Oklahoma!!! Thanks for putting that together for us...that kind of trivia has always been interesting to me!!!

Yes she is from Oklahoma, Trish. So is Bryan White, as is Opry Member Jean Shepard. I kinda figured that out when she sang Oklahoma Hills with Vince once on the Opry. *L*

Anna,
That was very interesting to read. I also love James Garner. I guess we can thank Oklahoma for some really good people. smile.gif
JBC
Jimmy Webb, the songwriter
Mel McDaniel
Joe Diffie
Ronnie Dunn of Brooks & Dunn

Those are some that I can think of right off. I'm sure there are many more. Remember when CMT had good programming and they did their Oklahoma weekend? Those are some of the people I remember.

Gee, the list just keeps growing. How could I forget Ronnie Dunn, since B&D are a favorite of mine....I'm as bad as my dj was *L*. Valerie, of course you would come up with Bryan White *LOL*.

Becky and Mary Lou, cool to find fellow James Garner fans. I loved him with Doris Day in the movies, too.

Trish

Trish,
Didn't you love James Garner in the movie with Sally Fields several years ago? I can never remember the name, but I know Becky remembers it, and told me the name once before. He was also great in the tv show, "Eight Simple Rules".

trish
Mary Lou, yes...yes...yes....it was "Murphy's Romance" and was terrific. I think it's on cable/satellite right now because I remember seeing it in the July book.

I always loved James Garner. That goes back to the Maverick TV show. Murphy's Romance, is a favorite. Also ,did anyone see The Notebook , w/James Garner and Gena Rowlands? Excellent movie.

Blake Shelton is an Okie too.

I think Oklahoma holds the record for producing famous people.

grissy74
Trish,
Murphy's Romance, that's it. I don't know why I can never remember that title, but I thought he was so cute in that.

Anna,
I did see "The Notebook", and once again, James Garner was wonderful. That is a beautiful movie, also very sad.

Lady Gill
Thank's for sharing all of those people from OKIE. Vince is #1of course
but i always like James Garner too when he was in the Mavericks.
thanks again,
love ya, SHIRL.
lady Gill -loves Vince Gill.
Becky
I will usually pick watching James Garner in a show or movie over most anything else...have loved Murphy's Romance..guess I've seen it a dozen times and have it on dvd as well...another wonderful movie that hasn't been mentioned is 'The Great Escape'...and also 'The Americanization of Emily' with Julie Andrews and also Victor/Victoria...love that one too!!! The Notebook was a wonderful movie...Bruce & I saw that one when it was in the theater, then bought the dvd as soon as it came out...I love the fact that James Garner just keeps on working!!! I think he has 2 movies in the works right now...but old or new, tv or movies, I love watching James Garner..he's an excellent actor!!! And I've heard that he's a very nice person as well !!! Very shy and reserved and doesn't like to be interviewed, but he's very gracious to his fans...
trish
Anna, I forgot about "The Notebook" and I just saw that on cable last year and cried my eyes out!!!! It is great that he is still working. BTW, I forwarded your great list of Okie's to the dj *LOL*.

Now, speaking of James, were any of you Chicago Hope fans? The last season of that show they brought on James as the head of the hospital and then they cancelled the show without finishing it off and there were still several shows "in the can." We were big Hope fans and thought he was going to be the answer to revive the show, but they really didn't give it a chance after that.

I am a big Ty England fan. Ty is from Oklahoma too.
Anna Leighton
I had forgotten that BJ. Wasn't he with Garth Brooks at one time? There are probably so many. Especially some of the new artist coming up. I'll have to search again sometime soon. Maybe Google it. smile.gif

Yes he was. He's apparently still out there performing, since he was at Fan Fair this year. Joyce let me upload her pictures to my website, and there is at least one of Ty there somewhere. My website addy is in my profile for anyone who's interested.
BJ from Ky
Yeah, Ty was at the CMA MUSIC FEST and was in Garth's band. Karen and I went to his fan club party and saw him at the riverfront too. He is touring and has a new cd out. It will be available on his website anyday now. I bought it at the party.
countrycrazy
I saw him in concert several years ago in Orlando. They had an all day music festival that included Ty, Sammy Kershaw, Billy Ray Cyrus and others. I have the pictures of Ty from that site on my website, also. That was something like 10 years ago.
Becky
Hey Trish, yep, we were big 'Hope' fans too..and loved seeing James Garner play that part on the show...it's too bad that the cancelled it...I've noticed that Chicago Hope is on the Discovery Health channel late, late at night now...as far as I know, they never showed the last few shows before it was cancelled, but I was almost certain that James Garner's character had left before the end of the show..might be mistaken about that tho...

Val, speaking of Billy Ray Cyrus, I got an email from Amazon that he has a new cd coming out...but even Amazon was not too favorable with their review of the cd...I used to love Doc and I was a fan of Billy's older music, but his newer music doesn't do anything for me...I've met him a few times and he was nice, but not all that friendly...Maegan watches that show that he and Miley are on...'Hanna Montana'??? She likes it, but I've never seen any more than just a minute or two clip of Billy Ray on the show...
Anna Leighton
Oops, Who could forget The Rockford Files. Never missed it.
countrycrazy
I just remembered who else was left off this list...Joe Diffie!!! I knew someone was missing, but just now realized who it was. I was posting the CDs I have of his in a database and that's when I remembered he's from OK.
