"The Only Promise That Remains" is a country music song from 2007 by Reba McEntire, and Justin Timberlake. It is the second single released from Reba's 2007 album Duets.


This is a great song actually but it's not reallly a "Duet" - more like Justin just doing backing vocals....

Not surprised. I expected it. They are going for the non-country music fans. I'll be very surprised if the song with Vince gets released as a single. I hope I'm wrong.

However, they may not release the Vince song either while Vince also has a single out (How Lonely Feels) etc.

I do like this song from Reba....but those wanting to hear more of Justin will be disappointed (I'm not - it's better with him in the background! LOL )

When Reba was on The Oprah Show, Justin Timberlake and Kelly Clarkson were with her. Apparently Justin wrote this song, and took it to Reba and asked her about putting it on the CD. He talked about being a fan of hers for a long time, and was really exicted to get to do this with her. Also the song with Kelly is one that Kelly wrote when she was 16. Apparently she and Reba have become really good friends. Reba was saying she didn't write songs anymore. It was a really nice show, Reba seems so genuine and kind. Kay S.

I heard somewhere...I think it was on the album premier show, that Kelly wrote the song about her parents divorce.
