Thanks so much Mandy! How's everybody on your end? Hope they're all well. Tell Mom I said hello and to take care.
Rock, I didn't take anything you said personally. I know what you mean about the board being kind of slow. It happens sometimes - we all get busy with our own lives and seems like there's no time for anything else. Thanks much about your sweet words about my Mama.

I STILL LOVE VINCE!
Been really busy here lately too. This past week our church bus was involved in a wreck. I have been visiting people in the hospital and also one person did not make it. I had a funeral to attend. It has been a sad week. I have been stopping by & reading, but not posting.
Good note...The weather has been nice here and I have been spending more time outside.

I definitely know what you are saying as sometimes you check days and no new posts are here but as was said people seem to be so busy these days. I have been in hospital this week as it was decided it was time for me to have a pacemaker. Now I may have extra energy and no time to post.
I sure like to read what everyone is doing though and hope that we do get more active on this board. Havent even read much from those going to Nashville.
Will try to post more often.

I understand,Reggie. Your postings have been very informative and appreciated . Some I am not familiar with and don't feel I have any constructive input . IMO our wings have been clipped. So many things aren't allowed anymore .We used to have a great time here.I live alone and work 2 jobs.I am not sure anyone is interested in hearing about some of the problems I encounter on a daily basis . Having no social life ,unless I go to a Vince concert ,my life is not very exciting . I did book a concert in Ca . for Oct. 22 nd . then discovered (as happened once before) there is one the night before right in Mesa , Az. (50 miles from me)

I was wondering if anyone here has entered the contest to win a trip to Fan Fair .
Sorry to hear about your Mama , Debbie . Also Lona, Sure hope you are feeling better .

Reggie:
I don't think you were around much when this Board WAS hopping with activity. Back then, it seemed liked this website was the first thing everyone checked and posted in the morning, and the last thing they checked and posted before bedtime.
There was much laughter, MUCH conversation, and gads of caring for each other. It's not that the 'caring' has stopped, but Reggie ---- this Board just isn't the same Board as it used to be. And, I tell you for sure, that I miss everyone more than you do. I miss it all.
I'm all for getting back to the good ole' days and chatting like crazy!!!!

I definately agree with both Anna and Cathy...things just aren't the same around here as they used to be, and a lot of people who used to post have either been intimidated by the board, by the way things are set up, can't log in, or other reasons. I'm sure there are some people who don't like the fact that most of the board is public, except for the Fans Only section, and I have heard from some people that they just can't get logged in to the fans section for whatever reason. Heck, I know a lot about computers and have helped people with their computer problems, but when this board started up, I actually had to have someone tell *me* how to get logged into the Members Only section, because it's a totally different setup than the old board/site was.

I've been preoocupied with worrying if I'd have a job in September. In January, it was announced that our school would be merging with another Catholic school with our "building" being the place for the "new school". All the teahcers and staff had to apply for a positon. A new principal was named iin the beginning of Apri and we were interviewed by her and two members of the Archdioscese a week ago Friday. Then we had to wait a week to find out if we would be "hired". Came home Friday to find a letter saying that I was offered a positon as a 5th grade Homeroom teacher and 5th and 4th grade Language Arts, Reading teacher. Most of the teachers iin our school were rehired. So, now that I know I will not be unemployed I can be relaxed enougth to check in and post.

I don't like posting personal information on public boards. We use to post a lot when the boards were private, but I don't really care for tons of people I don't have a clue about seeing details of my life. That is a big reason why I don't post much.
I've been swamped since I got home, and after doing yard work yesterday, got bite by a black widow. Dang, I knew I hated yardwork!!
Sorry about your mom Debbie!
Lona, I hope you are feeling better!

I am still around....just don't have the time or energy to log on here like I used to. We just bought a house in the country and have been going there daily to do yard work and to work on the house. Cathy is right...this place used to be so great and there were times that mornings or evenings would just get away from me because I was logged on chatting with friends from the site. It is too bad that this site now seems like an empty hallway (imo anyway). It would be great to see more of the things we once enjoyed like contests, chats, challenges and just more Vince info. I guess we just need to make the effort at times.

Reggie missed out on our GILL GAZETTE that we compiled weekly. Reg - you would have enjoyed that. There were MODERATORS who pulled weekly info together and edited and published this newsletter and posted it here on the BOARD. It was fun, and all of the members seemed to really enjoy it and look forward to the work we did.
There were times also that so many posts were being made, that it was almost impossible to read them all within a day. There was so much 'traffic' we almost needed a traffic officer!

At the time, we MODS would try to comment on every forum, every day to let members know they were being heard.
I feel bad because I don't 'participate' on this Board like I did the old one. I was constantly offering my two cents. As one of the 'seniors' on this Board, I used to love to tell 'stories', some humorous, - all life's lessons.
I miss the concert reviews!!! The 5 MODS would make sure the concert reviews were also published in the GILL Gazette.
Reggie ---- you would have really enjoyed the good ole' days. Sorry you missed that.
Keep posting ----- because you have so much good stuff to tell us!! You seem to lead an interesting life and know so many celebs! So, keep telling us about them!
This Fan Club is great ----- and I hope we can all keep it that way. I love it!

In 2003 I became a paid member of the VGFC and every year renewed my membership. When the change over to more advanced technology was introduced somehow my membership became void. It was only a matter of months, maybe 4, but I didn't object. No one has ever ask me via this site if I wanted to renew, or even, join. I am not sure what has happened with the administration.
I checked out the California shows and the closest for me is in Santa Rosa, and that is not really close. Plus, the time of year makes it chilly, but, we might consider driving up for the show. Would love for him to revisit the Mountain Winery, as that is right in our backyard, so to speak.
I would never go to Fan Fair as, it is too far, too expensive, too hot, and I don't care about those other country stars.
Hopefully, this is not overly negative, I remain a true fan and love the music provided for us by this talented man. Sharon Hanson

Everybody's right in that our friendships is what makes this place so special - we all live in different places and have become great friends even though some of us have never had the pleasure of meeting each other. I've met quite a few of the girls, not all, but it's been a pleasure getting to no everybody. What a special relationship we have through Vince - he brought us all together.

Hi Sharon,
I live in Santa Rosa (for 21 yrs now) and plan on seeing Vince when he comes here on Oct 29. He was here back in Nov 2005 and his show was awesome and definitely worth driving for! He played over 3 hours!!!
You should drive up here that afternoon, have dinner and check into a hotel. Then drive home the next morning or something. If you need any info about the Santa Rosa area, please contact me! Hope to see you at his show in Oct!

I am always amazed at the friends I have made because of this place. One of my very bests friends is Katie who I met via this site. I live in Canada and she lives in Florida and yet we have become such great friends and are like sisters to each other. Our families vacation together every year and we also do to Nashville together for Fan Fair. In talking to katie the other day she was updating me on ken and betty. Apparently they were on their annual trip to Branson and betty fell and broke her shoulder. She had to be flown back to florida and is recovering now...bless her soul. Those 2 are so active and are always travelling to some great place. I hope that she is doing much better...I will find out from katie and let you all know.

Sorry to hear about Betty falling and breaking her shoulder in Branson. ...hope she's better soon!
I know how it is to have a vacation ruined by a fall...even though ours was only a weekend trip to Orlando back in 2004 when my grandmother fell on a dimly lit wet sidewalk at the motel we were staying at and broke her leg. Needless to say our weekend trip turned into almost a week, and then she was hurriedly discharged because of a pending hurricane...not exactly the most fun summer of my life, that's for sure, because after that we had to evacuate our home 3 or 4 times because of hurricanes that were threatening, and it wasn't easy moving her with a broken leg! First time I actually called Fire-Rescue and told them the situation and they came and got her down the stairs and into my car. After that, a neighbor in back of us told us that if we had to evacuate again to just call her and she'd get her down the stairs...so that's what we did after that. I'm sure a lot of you remember that, because it was after that that we put our home in FL up for sale and moved to TX the following summer.
