Full Version: Vince & Amy Charity Concert at the Broadmoor

This was posted by a fan at FOA:

Just got back from an absolutely wonderful time at the Broadmoor with Vince and Amy.

The concert ran right around two hours in length with Vince and Amy onstage together for all but the first song (Vince came on, sang one song, and introduced Amy.)

It was an amazing event, watching Vince and Amy play off each other was incredible. They're so absolutely wonderful together and you could really see the love in their eyes for each other every minute they were together. When she wasn't mouthing the lyrics to Vince's songs, Amy spent her time not singing absolutely beaming at Vince, and Vince spent his time not singing looking lovingly at Amy. Ever watched two newlyweds? That's what Vince and Amy looked like looking at each other.

The absolute best part of the experience was watching them perform together. I've been going to Amy's concerts for over 22 years now, but nothing beats the joy of seeing Vince and Amy sing House of Love together, live, not to mention a variety of other songs that were hits for each.

Amy told stories, Vince told stories, and Amy shared two songs from an upcoming album, one religious and one entitled True Love (you can guess who the song was written for ) We even saw them kiss, very sweetly and spontaneously, twice.

Amy also mentioned that Millie is off to college at the end of the month, and that she and Vince had gone from having five kids in the house down to two, to which Vince uttered a "Woo hoo!" He of course followed that up with a "just kidding." She also said "this song made some money, and it should just about pay for Millie's first semester" before launching into Baby Baby.

As the event was a charity event for ChallengeAspen, at about the halfway point Vince offered up a combo of a framed piece of paper on which he had written the lyrics to four of his Song of the Year winners, and Amy offered a guitar on which she would write the lyrics of any song the winner desired. Bidding started slowly, at $5,000, but rapidly grew with the winning bid being $22,500!

I know I've said this before, but this night more than any past concert felt like I was going to see not just friends, but family.

If you ever get the chance to see them in concert together, don't hesitate, do it.

By the way, Vince was singing under the influence of painkillers; apparently he threw his back out three weeks ago and was appearing nevertheless, so he spent most of the concert seated. If you looked at him very closely when he sat down, you could see him wince once or twice. What a trooper! (Of course he also made several jokes about being under the influence of painkillers as well. )

For those interested, I failed to note all Vince's band members, but Kim Keyes and Will Owsley were there as always with Amy, providing faithful backup vocal, percussion and electric guitar.

Finally, I'd be remiss if I failed to mention that being in Colorado Springs, we were told there were about 500 active military present. The concert was introduced by the General in charge of NORAD (of course located at Petersen AFB in Colorado Springs) and started with the presentation of colors by the Color Guard at Fort Carson and the singing of the Star Spangled Banner.

All in all, it was a wonderful night for everyone attending, for ChallengeAspen, and to all appearances it looked like it was for Vince and Amy as well.
