I know if ya love it ya love it. My wish would be that 4 wheelers would also realize that just because cycles have only 2 wheels..........they can go pretty fast. Lots of accidents and deaths from people pulling out in front of bikers. We used to have one and my kids Dad laid it down on slick pavement (misty rain) on a curve. Scared the pants off him. Rode it home and put a For Sale sign on it.

That says nothing of the old suicide clutch Harley he rammed almost through the bottom half of our garage. Lady on the other side was hanging her laundry on the line. Need I say more???? Clothes up in the air, poor lady, I think she probably had to do more laundry laugh.gif No one hurt ,just scared her half to death .This was years ago. I rode with him 3 times that I remember (he was very careful) but I was so tense,I really did not enjoy it at all.
My friend ,Sara, absolutely loves riding . There ya go. It's great we have choices. smile.gif

Freda, I'm so sorry about your son and his wife. Sounds like it was a bad time for all of you. sad.gif We have several patients that have been injured in motorcycle crashes. It is scarry these days with all the traffic and distractions drivers have. I haven't ridden in a big group yet. I don't think I would like it. huh.gif We like to ride on country roads and in the mountains. I don't ride very fast, but I've already hit a guard rail this year. Banged up my knee and did some damage to my bike but everything is OK now. biggrin.gif I was only doing about 25 mph and hit a rough place in the road around a curve. It could have been a lot worse. God was watching that day.

I've been off for a while or would have answered sooner - but a country road is no safeguard - our son and his wife were on a rural National Parks road on side of Mt. Rainier when that bus coming downhill on a blind curve crossed the center line and slammed into all of them - the left front wheel came off and severed our son's leg and the two who were killed were thrown over the side of the mountain about 200 yards. If it hadn't been that several of the 40 or so riders were trained EMT's he would have bled to death and then it took a military helicopter with a doctor and nurse on board overhearing the radio traffic and volunteered to pick up the most injured and transport them to our local Harborview Hospital which is trauma center for 4 states. God was watching over them that day!

Wow! What can I say I truly agree that God was watching.

Here's my corner of the world. I am an Administrative Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer of a mid-sized company (Celebrating 9 years next month) that does Government Contracting for Department of Labor. Basically we are the operator of about 10 Job Corps Centers across the country that house students 18-24 and train them for their future. Basically anything from getting their GED to a skill in a specific trade, anything from Culinary Arts to say basic Shop experience. They get hands on training and life on a semi-campus feel livinig with other students their age. It's great to see the students make their way thru the program and succeed. We do all the paperwork to obtain the contract, to the payroll to the accounts payable, human resources and operations parts of the business. Very political but both parties seem to favor the Job Corps program, so its succesful no matter what party is in office. But we do have to deal with the government for obtaining contracts and payment for contract work. All very interesting and busy as there are lots of employees that are constantly travelling to these locations to make sure they run smoothly. I am the behind the scenes person that makes things tick a bit smoother, I hope.

Sound real interesting and so needed. I bet you carry that oil can really well.

My daughter worked for Napa State Hospital in Napa, Ca. for 14 years and she told me you had to write a letter to get a new pencil . Maybe not quite that bad but she got very tired of the politics of the job.

I am just now seeing this thread. Great thread Anna. I haven't read it all yet, but will after posting.

I also didn't' work when my kids where little. Well I did go to cosmetology school, and worked as a hairdresser for 3 years, then stayed home with the girls. Of course this was years ago. I needed to go back to work when the first one started college{that was a joke, she went 1 year} Anyway I worked in a daycare with toddlers for about 6 months, then a friend of mine from our Bowling league was moving her Income Tax office to Town and asked me to be her receptionist. That was in 1990. I am still with her only now I do all the bookkeeping, do some of the Taxes. I ony work 1 day a week this time of year, but durring the season I work 6 days a week.
