"These Days" is up to #16 on the Billboard Country Album Chart.
"The Reason Why" is at #28 on Mediabase and at #30 on Billbaord/R&R with a bullet.

Very cool . Thanks Mary Anne
Becky
Thanks for the update, Mary Anne...nice to know that the album and the single continue to hang in there!!!

Charlie will like this bit of information- AJ's cd "Like a Rose" has been out 3 weeks longer than "These Days", and although it debuted at #1 and is currently at #13, it has yet to be certified gold.

I've talked to a few people that have AJ's newest album and they said it wasn't very good...I haven't listened to it yet so I can't speak from experience. I think that most AJ fans were not happy because the music is 'different'. I personally think it's a good thing for musicians to try something 'different'...so I'm not so sure that's a bad thing...I liked 'Like Red on a Rose', but I haven't heard any other songs on the album yet...

I have A.J.'S new record and I just really like anything he does. Personally, if you are an A.J. fan..............buy it. IMO biggrin.gif

But Alan CD is 1 and Vince has 4 CD's so that's Vince's 4 to Alan's 1 every time they sell one. So I don't think that a fair way to look at it. And I have both Alan's & Vince's . But I did get 3 of Vince Box set's. biggrin.gif

I have AJ's CD, and personally, it's not one of my favorites of his. There aren't any uptempo songs on the album at all and I was overall disappointed in the album. It was good that he did try something different, but he could have put at least one or two mid to uptempo songs on it.
Becky
Thanks for the info on AJ's album, Val...we have several albums like that by other artists and I find I get bored with them very quickly no matter how good the person's voice is...

At first AJ's CD did not grab me....it took many listens...and also for me to let go of "it's not typical AJ country". That said, I like it but honestly not as much as his older stuff. I do applaud AJ for trying something new - and many people and critics especially like it. I think the CD tends to run together and I wish they had added a bit more "umph" to some of the songs. But again JMHO. I bet he will go hard core country with his next CD as I do not think it is selling as well as he (the label) had hoped....

Yes, Vince gets "4" to each AJ "1" but Vince is also selling at 2 to 3 times the price...it all factors in - I think Vince is doing great with his sales for a 4 CD set. I remember we read if it sold 150,000 sets it was a "success" etc....I think it will eventually sell 500,000+ (and eventually be 2X platinum) - A Huge success for such a unique project. I listened to Vince all the way to Southern California and it's such a great piece of work...it's more than music - it's art...it's magical.

I am so exited to see what happens next - new singles - new videos - songs released to multiple formats - new concerts....we are so lucky to have Vince. Sorry to ramble - smile.gif

Happy Holidays to all. I doubt I will have internet access for at least 3-4 more days.

So take care all and have a happy and safe Christmas.

Hey Charlie,It's really fun reading your postings. Reminds me of myself. I have actually stood in a parking lot "hawking" These Days. Anyone who will listen and some who won't ,hears all about Vince's music . cool.gif

Charlie,

I definately agree about AJ's album seeming to run together...all the songs seem to sound the same on the album...guess that has to do with the fact that they're all slow songs, but even the tune of the songs don't seem to change much from song to song. Needless to say I've only listened to the album once since I got it.

I've got it and I'm not too crazy about it. It just doesn't seem like AJ to me.

I didn't mean my post to be a "slam" against AJ- just poionting out that while some albums and singles seem to fly up the chart- they don't have the "lasting power" like others.

Mary Anne,

I don't think any of us were taking your post to be a "slam" against AJ...we were just giving our opinions of AJ's latest album. Apparently it seems like the fans aren't taking to it as well as the critics.
Becky
I was simply trying to find out what others thought about AJ's newest album...I like the first single, but don't care for the video...and I was considering buying the album, so I was trying to find out what others thought about it...I've been told by total strangers in record stores that they didn't care for it..but I'd rather take the advice of folks here that I know...!!!

I don't think anyone thought you were slamming AJ's new album, Mary Anne..I just thought since you mentioned it, I would take the opportunity to ask what others thought of it...and I greatly appreciate everyone's honest opinions...

IMO ,We are so used to A.J. doing quite a bit of the upbeat music and I think that is one reason that some might not care for the Like Red On A Rose record. The songs are just different for him.I have listened to the whole record 3 times and I hear Allison Krause all over this record. I know she didn't write the songs, (Alan wrote A Woman's Love)and all the other songs were written by 3 or 4 other writers, but she did produce it and I heard Alan say he just told her to do her thing. True ,it isn't your typical A.J. music but I am a fan of the man .Just like Vince.I think neither of them /or several others I like can do anything bad. Like I said in another post............I just like A.J. He's not my favorite laugh.gif but one of them.

Am watching AJ's Precious Memories concert on GAC right now...I haven't bought this album, but I think I will be picking it up sometime. I have always loved the old hymns and I love them sung traditionally. This is a really good special...I'm recording it so we can watch it again...AJ just did a wonderful job with these old treasured hymns...
Anna Leighton
Oh yes Becky. That show brought me right back to my childhood. I really loved it and Alan did it so good. Didn't you just love seeing his family there with him. His Mom was so taken by those songs. It was so cool how he gave her the cover to the CD as it started playing. What a great gift that was for her. I think it's one of the best shows I have ever seen. cool.gif

We were in Target a few months ago so I could get a couple CDs, including AJ's Like Red on a Rose, and they had AJ's Precious Memories special on DVD...it was exclusively at Target, so I figured I'd get it since I was there and we don't have a Target here yet (they are building one), and they only had a couple left. In addition to Target, we're also getting a Home Depot (don't really care) and a Best Buy (YEA!!)
