Two radio stations in Houston have been having contests for winners to "Get Up Close and Personal with Vince Gill". I know for a fact that at Noon tomorrow (Central time), at www.kkbq.com the concert/interview will be aired. My sisters and I were winners and we will be 3 of the 100 allowed to attend. YIPPEE!!!!! I can't wait!

On www.kilt.com their private concert will also be aired, and I know it will be in the morning. I can't verify the time. Please go to that website to try to find out the time.

Both will be just Vince and his guitar. I hope to get pictures of the one I will attend.

Try not to miss them! I'm so excited - I probably won't sleep!

Being the "9th caller" is NOT an easy thing to do! It drove me crazy!!!!

I know exactly what you mean, Cathy!! Most of the time I'd wind up being anything *but* the 9th caller, but I did get lucky several times.

OH MY GOSH!!! Vince was awesome!! He told stories, sang, answered questions, talked, sang with our Lady DJ, and was just awesome!! His voice was perfect!

CW39 was filming constantly, so I'm hoping they will show the entire thing tonight. WOW - just so fun! No meet/greet and no individual photos or autographs allowed because a limo was waiting to take Vince across town to the airport to leave. Going "across town" in Houston is an experience in itself!!! They swept Vince out of there so fast. He nodded to me and smiled ----- could have been my fan club badge I was wearing, or perhaps he did recognize me (it's possible), but he did smile and nod at me. My sisters saw it, too. smile.gif I LOVED IT!! smile.gif

I hope each one of you have such an opportunity. 93Q fed us and treated us like royalty. It was really a very nice event to attend! I am still on Cloud 9!
Mary Anne
The interview he did is already up at the radio's website. They have it in 3 parts
. What songs did he sing during the "private concert"? How long did it last?
Lady Gill
Nina , do you think you will be going to Lancaster To see Vince?
I want to go I have about 3hr drive, I don't want to miss him since he is in Pa,
love ya, SHIRL=== Lady Gill. biggrin.gif

Mary Anne,

The 3 part interview that's posted is on KILT's website...I saw that earlier. The one Cathy went to was at KKBQ, and I don't see that one posted yet. I was listening for at least a portion of the show (until my mom got here...she was late, because she had to take my stepfather to the Dr...he fell thru the floor at the schoolhouse down the street from them), then I just left the computer recording while we were out, so I have the whole thing (and then some) on the computer.

I'm glad you had such a good time Cathy. Vince sounded like he was really enjoying himself.

Shirl
I was thinking of going to Lancaster but that is about a 3 - 4 hour drive for me and now he will be in Binghamton NY which is only about 1 1/2 hours away and then in Easton which is probably 2 1/2 hours but hubby and I will be going to Reading PA on March 24 for a jazz concert so maybe I will go there also. Hope you get to go to Lancaster and see and meet him again. Good to see him in PA so much and close in NY.
bestamaw
Oh, Vince was enjoying himself. He looks great! He had on that beautiful grayish suit with a black silky shirt.

VAL ---- I was enjoying myself too much and wasn't keeping notes! If you taped it all - could you give the run down for everyone of the songs he sang.

Kristi Brooks of 93Q requested "Kiss the Lips" when the station went off the air. She begged him to do it real quick before the limo rushed off with him. He did ---- and the version he did was hilarious!!! He kept stopping and telling how he never realized that this song was about his MOM because his DAD was the one who wanted Vince to write and sing it. Then he told how it DID NOT go over so well when Amy had him sing it for her Mom and Dad. His facial expressions with that story was just too funny.

Sorry guys - I didn't get to hug Vince for any of us. I did have my Fan Club badge on and I was close enough for him to see it. So, in a way ---- I DID represent all of us while I was there. I thought of you guys! Oh that event was so much like the one in Nashville last June. Just Vince, his guitar, his voice, his stories! WHAT could be better. It was fun!
countrycrazy
Cathy,

I haven't had a chance to actually listen to it yet, but when I do, I"ll give a run down. I did hear the DJ sing with Vince at the beginning of the show and how the song fit how she was feeling (they sang "Whenever You Come Around.") The other DJ wanted her to sing When I Call Your Name with Vince, but she said she didn't know that one as good as WYCA. It wasn't too long after that when my mom showed up.
bestamaw
Kristi Brooks (the DJ) was so embarrassed that Cactus Jack put her on the spot like that. She kept saying she thought she was going to pass out, and she meant it. She was scared to death. She was visibly angry at Jack for doing that to her. Vince, at first, didn't act too enthused about the idea of her singing with him --- and he acted like he didn't know what to think about them arguing with each other over it, but then he loosened up and made the best of it. I think what it was --- Vince had just entered the room, was introduced, and then Jack wanted the DJ to sing instead of Vince. To me, it put Vince in an uncomfortable position. It all worked out, but poor Kristi was a nervous wreck, and she left the stage immediately and had to regroup before coming back. She's also about 6 months pregnant and wasn't feeling well. Jack should be ashamed of himself for doing that to her! BUT - he's a character. It turned out fine. Vince put Kristi at such ease! She's a great DJ ---- but even good public speakers can loose their cool next to THE LEGEND, Vince Gill!
Anna Leighton
Awesome Cathy. cool.gif So happy you got to be there . I bet he remembered you wink.gif . It's cool to think so anyway
bestamaw
Anna - I hope that Vince 'remembers' me. He has in the past --- and even hugged the daylights out of me once and said, "well, there's my favorite stalker", and then laughed like crazy while I bopped him on the arm! He thought that was pretty funny! Vince knows I'm not a "stalker"!!! That nut!!!!!

Hey guys:

93Q has their pictures up from yesterday. On the very first slide, the lady sitting up in her seat in the second row is my sister, Connie. To her immediate right is my sister, Linda (the red-head), and then to her right you see a few curls on the top of someone's head behind the man in the black shirt is ME (so short - that's all that's visible). We were center-stage, second row.

Kristi Brooks is a doll with her pregnant stomach. So cute! The girl with the long hair was the one who asked for a handshake, but got a huge hug from Vince instead. That was sweet. The older lady just lost her husband 6 months ago and was so excited to meet Vince. Of course, Cactus Jack made sure she met Vince. She had brought him flowers, and she was the oldest person in the room. I think she was in her 70's. Vince was so gracious.

I was finally able to get the KKBQ interview edited. You can download it from here

I am so glad you were able to attend the show. I am sure Vince did recognize you and that is great. I love those live intimate concerts....they are such a treat to attend.
