Full Version: How "The Reason Why" Pertains to Me
The Nineteenth Hole > The Nineteenth Hole > The Main Room

Hi everyone, this is my first time here. I would consider myself "somewhere in the middle" kind of Vince fan. I like all his music but don't have very much of it yet. I have listened to "The Reason Why" on the radio a lot and only yesterday realized how much it was relating to my life lately. I have been married almost 29 years to a wonderful man, but lately our relationship was becoming like the song "The Reason Why". When the song clicked with me yesterday, I realized I had to make an effort to change things. Now our relationship is looking a lot brighter. I don't remember ever hearing a song before that pertained so much to me and I am glad that Vince has made it such a hit and right at the right time for me needing it smile.gif I just wanted to be able to state this. Does Vince see any of the messages from these boards? I would love it if he knew how much this song has meant to me. Thanks for this wonderful website.

Julia:

I will see Vince tomorrow and I printed your comments out to give to him. I'm sure he will read it! I am going to a private concert in Houston at a radio station where my sisters and I won tickets to attend. If I don't get to talk with him - I will give the comments to someone who will give it to him.

I wish you all the best. Hang in there - things can get better. I've been married for 38 years and through some very rough times, but it's worth hanging in there!

Hi bestamaw, wow, 38 years, congratulations! Thank you so much for doing that for me. It will be nice to know that Vince will see it. I am more of a country music fan than my husband, so after telling him about the song yesterday, I had him listen to it today. He agreed with me how much the song pertained to us. Have a great time tomorrow, I will be thinking of you smile.gif By the way, it is Julie not Julia, but you aren't the only person who makes that mistake. Some people even call me Judy!
bestamaw
Julie - please forgive me ---- as soon as I hit the mouse, I knew I had mistakenly typed Julia, instead of Julie, and then failed to edit and correct it! Names are VERY important and I try not to make mistakes such as that. I come from a background of working in public schools and places of higher education with thousands of students, and NAMES were crucial, and I made few mistakes with names! Won't happen again.

Yes, Julie - I will definitely try to hand Vince the printout of your comments.

Welcome to the board and your new found enjoyment of Vince music.
Vince and his music has touched so many lives in so many ways and he will be glad to hear he has helped you. The more you learn about him the more you will realize what a special person he is - not only in music but as a caring human being.

Julie ,So happy to have you here and once again Vince's music has touched someone's heart. I do hope you get to own more of his music. He has so many songs that anyone could relate them to their lives. I think music has a healing about it. Some more than others. I heard Amy say that listening to Vince at times has brought tears to her eyes. He does have that exquisite voice and interprets the words so well.
So glad you discovered a song that you could put to your life and have it help you. smile.gif

Mission Accomplished! I know for a fact that Vince received your post. I printed it out, gave it to the Promotions Director of 93Q, and told her what it was, and she said, "I'll take it back to Vince right now". She did! She came back to me later and told me that Vince did get it. He will read it, and I'm sure he will be touched by it. I honestly think he had time to read it before he did the concert for us. While we were having lunch that was provided for us, I believe Vince was in another room having lunch with 93Q personnel. He may have read it then, but I do know that he did get it.

Thank you so much for doing that for me and letting me know! I really appreciate it. Because of my husband being such a romantic, I think I have my husband hooked on the song now. Someone at work brought up Vince Gill and my husband played the song for them smile.gif Now that I have found this board, I will try to come back now and then. Thanks so much!

That's great. I know Vince always reads notes and things people bring him. He also wears shirts that are given to him.

Cathy that was so good of you to do that for Julie. I had to work and couldn't listen. How was it? Did you give him all those hugs?????? wink.gif laugh.gif

I didn't get to talk with Vince - no one did. 93Q rushed him out of there so fast because a limo was waiting to take him across Houston (an hour drive - without traffic!!) Vince was so rushed. He did see my fan club badge though and gave me a big smile and a nod! I represented the Club!! As far as "how was it" --- Anna IT WAS SO FUN! Vince was in a great mood and hilarious! The 93Q DJs are top-notch and their personalities, along with Vince's was nothing but fun. This was held at our local Channel 39 TV studio and they filmed the whole thing, which they showed segments on last night's 9 p.m. news. Both 93Q and Channel 39 treated all of us as 'special guests' which made it even more special. We were fed, given T-shirts, and just treated really nice. I was very impressed with everyone! They made Vince feel real special, which he should be!! Houston refers to him as "THE LEGEND"!

Julie --- Vince definitely got your comments. I know that meant a lot to you. I'm positive he will or has read it.

I was hoping you might get picked to ask Vince a question Cathy ? Did the woman who asked for a handshake get a hug from Vince ?
bestamaw
She got a HUGE hug from him. She was sitting right behind me. I started to ask a question, but then decided to let someone else do it. Before the show - I was driving Cactus Jack crazy with questions. In fact, he and I entertained the audience for about 5 minutes with our craziness! It was funny. I fussed at Jack for always saying he would ask for the 9th caller in 20 minutes, and then do it in 10 or 25. The audience laughed at that and knew I was right. Then I asked him WHY he always asked for the caller when I was in the bathroom. He cracked up and so did everybody else. That's why I didn't ask Vince a question --- I felt like I was being somewhat of a "question hog"! smile.gif
Anna Leighton
I know that feeling. ??????? hog. Every time he would look at me ,I'd have my hand up and he would kinda roll his eyes rolleyes.gif and say, o.k. I guess so and then laugh . laugh.gif I just loved that . cool.gif
