They must know what the next single is - so why not tell all us die hard fans? What the heck could it hurt? Please? biggrin.gif

You know we will all help to promote it!
Give us the exclusive!

JMHO & Thanks.

I agree Charlie, and the suspense is killing me! There are so many that I like... Sweet Thing would be fun, or Some THings Never Get Old would be nice... or Rock of Your Love would be cool... just something, and HURRY UP!! biggrin.gif
Anna Leighton
The stations here are still playing The Reason Why but not much. I said before it's usually early morning or late night. Now that doesn't mean it won't be heard but for the people who listen on their way home from work, have they heard it ? I talk about it to people who listen to country and they look at me like I am from another planet. blink.gif

Speaking of another planet..................I found" THAT" picture and some reviews from the Boulder Station concert. I had made an 8 X 10 of Moon Anna. It cracked me up all over again. Must get it framed before it disintegrates . I had also printed the reviews. Very nice one by Kerri. Saving them for "posterity" .I love using that word. laugh.gif

Ok....I'll bring it up again...come on - it's time to release another single! smile.gif
I hope we get word soon! biggrin.gif

I think it will be real soon Charlie. I really want Cowboy Up. Still think with Gretchen Wilson singing on it ,it would do well on radio.

What would be your pick if there were only one ?

Oh well,I've been listening to Jazz all week. Needed a rest from the playlists. blink.gif
cbjones001
Hey Anna,
I like "Cowboy Up" (and would be perfectly happy if they choose it as the next single)...but I doubt that's it...(side note: have you noticed the last 2 (or so) Gretchen singles have barely cracked the Top 20?....not sure if she is having a more difficult time getting airplay these days)....I think "Come To Bed " went "nowhere"....odd.

I personally think "Some Things Never Get Old" is one of the best songs on the CD and I would choose it as a single (even if I thought it was not the most "country radio friendly" - part of me says "to heck with what radio plays (or not)...)

However, that said I think the next single (and most "radio friendly") is:
"Love's Standin" or "Sweet Thing" smile.gif
Sorry to ramble.
Take Care,
Charlie

Was listening to Country Top 40 yesterday and The Reason Why was at like #34. Anyways, the host was talking about Vince (all those shows they like to tell some stories about some of the artists), and the host was talking about how Vince's first single hit #40 and then 'died' on the chart. He then went on to say that Vince said that he wouldn't name any names, but he would like to slap some of these artists who complain when their first song out doesn't hit #1 on the charts, since it took Vince 8 years before he finally got a #1 song (since When I Call Your Name didn't go to #1 on all the charts, especially BB it's not officially considered a #1 song) .

how can 'what you give away' not be a single???? it could have so many things that vince and others do for charity tied in. it would be a great message to get out there.
gee, it could be made into a political statement to get the grammy's attention so he could perform it. especially if sherl crow performs with him.

I agree - it is a great message song. Somehow though, I just think they are going to pick a song from the "up tempo/rockin" CD (since they already had a single from the "groovy" CD....however, we should know soon (I hope).

There are so many great songs, I feel there is no wrong one to pick! smile.gif
Anna Leighton
Sweet Thing would possibly be "radio friendly".It certainly up tempo. I love What You Give Away but I agree that it wouldn't get airplay. Especially on Country ???? radio. It is odd that Gretchen hasn't gotten the airplay with her last couple of songs. That Come To Bed,WOW,who would have thought we wouldn't be hearing that every 5 minutes. Maybe it's because it has the word "bed" in it ??????

I guess we can debate this issue til ,well you know, and when the label decides to let us know we'll know. I am really looking forward to which one it'll be and I hope it just knocks the socks off the program directors. blink.gif

the sad thing is, with the way radio is today....washed up rockers and newcomers with the most publicity , tattoos and earrings get all the airplay. it seems so hard for great, established...real country stars like vince, tracy lawrence, mark chesnutt, travis tritt, etc to get airplay.
there's no doubt that whatever song they choose as a single is a great song and worthy of airplay....but i don't know if that's what really matters anymore.

I agree - radio will not automatically add Vince anymore - or if they do it's limited and in light rotation at best....maybe a "message" song like What You Give Away has a better chance if it catches on with listeners - who then demand it in droves....thus forcing more and more airplay....
Not sure what it will take to give Vince another #1 one single or "solid" "Top 10"....but I do think it will happen eventually! smile.gif
Anna Leighton
Sure would be great for that to happen. If wishing made it happen............he sure has enough people pulling for him.

While I believe any of the songs on the "Groovy Record" can serve as a single (and that one album is worth the cost of the entire box set IMO), I agree that a song from one of the other albums will be released next. I predict something off "Some Things Never Get Old -- The Country & Western Record." In this political age we are living in, I would guess "If I Can Make Mississippi," since Vince and Lee Ann recorded it the same day Hurricane Katrina hit. The press can write lots and lots about that.

We'll see if I have a future as a recording executive.

Interesting choice...Not sure a song about "driving and whiskey" will be "radio friendly" smile.gif And unfortunately may be "too country" for "country" radio (yes - I know LOL but look what Vince was told about "The Key" CD)...(That said it's a great song!)

Take care,
Charlie

O
I've been hoping for What You Give Away. It's the one I keep hitting replay on, and I have also had several people who aren't country fans, or that aren't particularly fond of Vince(not everyone is blessed with the excellent taste that we have), do really like the song.

Again, they're all more than worthy of a single, but I have really high hopes for that one, or one of the "rockin" ones.

I rarely listen to the radio, as I just get irritated hearing the same few songs over and over from the same few artists. Even if I like the song, it can get old hearing it every 30 minutes.

Do you think that they want to ride the 'Grammy train' a bit longer with 'The Reason Why' ???

I have no idea how the music industry works, but now that the first single won a Grammy, I was thinking maybe they would be a little hesitant to release another single quite yet...

I'm as anxious as everyone else to see what the next single will be...I personally hope it's a lively upbeat fun song...there's so many to choose from...
countrycrazy
Winning a Grammy shouldn't make a difference, since the song has fallen off the MediaBase chart. Even in the past, MCA has never been quick to release another single after one has fallen off the charts, unlike other artists who seem to have another single out as soon as the previous one starts falling.
TechnicolourDreams
It might be that MCA is waiting to see if the win at the Grammys makes any difference. Since 'What You Give Away' and 'Love's Standing' were the other 2 songs put out for review along with 'The Reason Why' last year, I would imagine one of them would be the next single. My money would be on 'Love's Standing'.

I think the "girl" singers get dumped off radio faster than the men. I don't hear as much of Gretchen or Faith anymore but Sarah Evans is still going good here. Trisha doesn't get airplay either. Gretchen seemed to be a flash and then gone again type of singer. But, they play older Vince songs some but not much. I hear him mostly when I'm in the car on XM radio. Also the country singer category has so many newer artists and young kids that love them even tho they can't hold a candle to Vince.
Lady Gill
I like the song from the* Some Things never gets old*on that one i have heard Out of my mind, and he plays The cold grey light of gone.
.
he get requests for that one.,they all sound so good.
love ya SHIRL. smile.gif
cbjones001
Is MCA purposely trying to drive us all nuts with "next single" anticipation?
It's working! smile.gif

Becky
Yeah, I think so, Charlie. I am personally at the point where I don't care which song will be the next single (they are all great anyway), I'd just like them to get on with it!!! Ok..well, preferably an upbeat tune...

Maybe it'll be known soon. I have noticed The Reason Why isn't playing when we sign on the board.Could be they're getting ready to put up the next release ???????? I just hope it get's played so much on radio that Kenny,George and Alan's fans call in and say "enough already" laugh.gif blink.gif wink.gif

Wouldn't it be neat if they did a poll at the I-squad website with about 4 or 5 songs to choose from, then let *us* which of those songs we would like as the next single. Of course I'm sure it won't happen, but it would be a fun idea.

It would. They could put up 4 songs or so and say...."one of these will be the next single - which do you hope it is?" (I doubt they'd let fans pick....but it would be fun for sure).

Well it would be if fans outside the US were allowed to join in, we always seem to get excluded from most things.
Becky
I wonder why that is, Linda??? Has anyone given you a reason why they don't allow members outside the US???

Kathy said in the Members Section that the next single will be..."What You Give Away".....She met with Vince at the MI concert & he told her....

Wow...that's cool.
I was wrong about one from the "rocking record" then.
A true uplifting message song - that's fine with me smile.gif
Thanks for the info.

Anyone heard...anything? It's been what seems like an eternity...
Some artists have released 3 singles since Vince released "The Reason Why"....Not trying to rush the label but a second single after 8 months seems in order.
Just venting - no news here other than my impatience! smile.gif

I know you guys have the best of intentions but please do not vent here. Do not post rumors here. If you have a question for myself or the fan club please contact them directly. The next single has not been confirmed by anyone at this point. It might be more productive for one of you guys to post a positive post with a poll and find out what board members what the single to be. smile.gif

Thanks
