That every weekend we have some low life posting their filth on these message boards ???? mad.gif
Pam Dalton
Because the boards were made available to the public instead of just fanclub members! sad.gif

All they have to do is register and they can post in the first two sections.

Some type of filtering sytem needs to be put into place to prevent this from happening. The board should have sections available to Vince fans who can not afford to join the fan club or who are new to his music, but perhaps there should be a proofreading of posts by the adminstrators before the posts are permited on the "public forums". Another possibiltiy would be when we hit the "report' button the post is immedately sent to the administrators "mailbos" and removed from the boards since it seems to take several hours before snything is done. Then if it is deemed tht the post is not offensive it can be put back on the boards.
TechnicolourDreams
I don't think there's anyone around from admin checking the boards over the weekend which is why these posts don't get removed until Monday. Not a very good way of running things.

This 'stuff' makes me sick to my stomach. I really want a whole member's section of forums. Or even just a 'general' and an 'off topic' for members only would do.

I don't understand the technology that it would take to keep this stuff off this board but as far as we have come, seems to me we are at a stand still. The other thing is that it's allowed to even make it to the board weather it's paying or non-paying. I know there are people who want to participate on the board but I still think $20.00 for a year is affordable to most people and I would like to see it a Members Only ,with the different catagories like before. Moderators like before. A paying fan club. Membership might fall off (for the non-paying people) but the paying members would still be here and why would you not want to pay for the some of the perks we get for it. Does this make any sense to anyone ?Personally,I wouldn't want to be a member at all if it weren't Vince's fan club and sure as heck wouldn't want to miss the Members Only section.

I can't believe that I just logged in and not only see a curse word in the title of a post, but a reply that lead's to report me! I really think that Admin needs to hire someone who can not only keep an eye on the boards on the weekdays, but also on the weekends...and they need to put a filter in place that will filter out certain words. After all, these forums are open for kids to read, and a post with a curse word in the title is NOT suitable for kids. Believe me, certain words, phrases and even usernames that contain certain words can be filtered out...it was done in the past when the FC was run by others. I know someone on here said not too long ago that they tried to post something that contained a filtered word, and it wouldn't work, so why can't that be done for other words, like "s***" and any username, post or phrase that includes the word "d***" (which is slang for a certain part of the male anatomy...)

Admin needs to get on the ball and put these filters in place if they don't plan on having anyone watching the board during the weekends...and if they don't want to put the filters in place, then they need to find someone who can and will watch the boards on the weekends so as these type of posts don't stay up for 2-3 days (or longer if it's a holiday weekend).

I see that guy must have had nothing better to do than to trash almost every thread on the first page of both forums...now THAT is REDICULOUS!! There's hardly a post on here that hasn't been trashed with report me.
Mary Anne
There are a lot of people who are fans of Vince and not members of his fan club but who still enjoy posting on the boards. When money is tight it's hard to spend even $20 to join a fan club, and I've even heard people say that it's not worth joining because the perks arene't worth it.
Keep the two boards open to the public, but change the "report system" so that the posts are removed immediately.

I would definitely like to see the posts removed when "reported" until they are deemed suitable for public reads. I hate to see Vince's wonderful website become a victim of trash posts. If someone were to log on for the first time for info and read such trash ---- that first impression of "Vince" and what he stands for certainly wouldn't be reflected properly.

I hate that people feel the need to do such idiotic moves as to trash this website!!!!!!!!! In the old days - when the MODS were monitoring almost 24/7 ---- this would have NEVER happened, and DIDN'T. I hope Admin sees the need to monitor closely as this has been happening so much more here lately.

Paying members of this Fan Club should, in my opinion, have more forums in the special members' section so we can talk and post freely without such horror taking place. If this nonsense keeps up ---- we'll have to open up a "report me" section!!!!!!!!!! NOT!!!!!!!! I'm very disgusted with this!
Lona
Yes, I certainly would like to see something done about this on this board. I know that there is this trouble on the other boards I am on too but not this much. As Val put I know that there must be a filter that can be used .
I would think we could go back to all topics for members only.
Hope that will be taken into consideration as this gets old really quick.

Why not "entrust" 5 or more registered Vince fans the ability to not only "report" a post but to report it and then it "freezes that post" (or if more than ANY 2 members "flag" it, it is frozen...they do that on Craigslist....if it's flagged twice I think - it is removed until reviewd) so it cannot be seen - until a admin or moderator gets a chance to review it?
If it's deemed bad it can stay gone - if "ok" it can be released from the frozen state....

There is enough trusted fans that would help monitor it all - and help keep as many fans involved as possible - I think we should encourage fans to Vince's music thru openess and conversation.....at least in 1 section of the board. It makes people feel welcome.

Once in a while we may need to deal with "spam" but it can be filtered and it's not the end of the world if a few get thru.

On the previous website, that is just what the Moderators did. It worked quite well. We had a Admin/Moderator only forum and questionable material could be sent there to be reviewed. Val was the Head Mod and there were several others of us (me-bestamaw, Mary Anne, Becky, Pam, Leah, and towards the end of the life of the website, Laura). One of us would catch something early and it would be taken care of immediately and would not sit out there for others to be subjected to. It worked quite well.

That system did work quite well, because the board was never without at least 2 moderators and the mods were spread out across the US (even had Canada covered with Leah), so we basically had all time zones covered and with mods on both coasts and the middle of the US, about the only time the board wasn't covered was overnight after everyone on the west coast had gone to bed.

In the fall of 2005, we had 4 moderators, but only 3 were 'active' because Pam was on FEMA duty in New Orleans...that's when things really "hit the fan" because Rita was heading towards the Galveston area and Cathy had to evacuate and I was heading on vacation without internet access...we scrambled to add another moderator so that Leah wouldn't be left alone to cover the board...so that's when Laura came onboard.
Mary Anne
The moderartors did all the work on the last board as the fan club president was MIA most of the time, and all you got for your fan clbub money was the right to post and read on the message boards.
