how many news articles talked about his win?? all they talk about is the dixie %$#@#. vince is everything that is good about country music. the dixies are, well.....aside form their first comments, have said a number of negative things about country music, its fans, artists and industry itself.
i just wish that country magazines, cmt, and the industry would just not report on them as country anymore and spend more time with great people like vince (and so many others) who really deserve it.

i'm sorry to go on about this.....i'm not a huge political person...but i think you should show respect for the prseident when outside the country........
but that's not the real problem i have....all they've said about country music needs to be remembered. ask reba....she's not a chix fan.
ok thanks for listening......it drives me nuts and i have to get it out!

I understand how you feel.
Let's hope next year Vince is a multiple Grammy winner (like the Chicks were this year) and he will get all the press he deserves as well.

It is a shame that his award was not presented on the "live" TV telecast portion ....next year though - I really think he has a shot at "Country Record of the Year", another single, male vocalist etc...and maybe even "Overall CD of the Year" (all Genre's - like the Chicks won this year....).

I agree Vince deserves more attention this year (especially since this is # 18! - a record).

Next year should be huge for him though! Too bad it's so far off - I have little patience to wait. smile.gif

Vince's win was reported in all the reports I read on the Grammys-
but since he wasn't a "mulit winner" like the Chicks he didn't get the extensive coverage they did. Next year though, look out.

They always hype "multiple winners" in a night (The Chicks were 5 for 5 on the night) and also remember the Chicks won one of the biggest awards of the night:

"Best Album of the Year"...(all genre's)
...the one Vince WILL win NEXT Year!!! smile.gif

Also ratings were up a whopping 20% this year to 20 million viewers...most likely since they were not opposite "Idol"!

Album of the Year
**"Taking the Long Way," Dixie Chicks
"St. Elsewhere," Gnarls Barkley
"Continuum," John Mayer
"Stadium Arcadium," Red Hot Chili Peppers
"FutureSex/LoveSounds," Justin Timberlake

The press will always go on and on about the chicks because the press feels the same way as the chicks - the press is certainly not "neutral" except maybe Fox - they always play up big anyone that is vocal about political things if it meets their needs.

"Neutral" is a relative word... smile.gif
Depending on which "news" you like to watch....everyone (including the news) has an "agenda"...be it a bit left or a bit right....happily I like to be somewhere in the middle of it all!
That aside...I believe you are correct the Chicks got a boost for their "politics" this year. Or at the very least their "outspokenness" lol Is that a word?....
However, the people that voted for the Chicks are the same ones that voted for Vince! To each their own.
Take care,
Charlie

I enjoy The Dixie Chicks music and I think they are extremely talented and I am happy they won. Have always liked them .

I thought the article that was in the Tennessean about Vince was a good one.The part where he said the Grammy's have always been about the creative process rather than what is main stream. I like that and he is right.Could it be that they won because they have the creativity and the talent ?

Norah Jones did it her first time out. 5 Grammy's for her first record. That's quite an accomplishment. It should get press.

I heard about Vince's and the Chicks win on Imus (and he has played Come To Bed,by Gretchen Wilson, many times. He told everyone he talked to Monday morning about Vince's 18 th. Grammy . He played The Reason Why(parts of it) about 3 times and he has promoted These Days ever since it was released and Vince was on his show for 45 minutes. Imus is all over the United States and MSNBC and you can't get much more press than when you get on that show . Imus loves country music and alot of other genre's of music . I wish he would start a country radio station in N.Y.C. We would be hearing all 43 songs from These Days . You all know Vince is my favorite wink.gif and he will get his press next year .

I completely agree! You preach it! Considering the nasty and insulting way they have treated country fans I wish they didn't get any coverage either. Thing is "popular" doesn't mean good. Vince is a good man as well as a fantastic artist! Sometimes good and popular collide and I predict Vince will get multiple grammy's next yr!! anna

LOL, I definately agree with neutral is a relative word. Fox IMO is usually pro Republican all the time! I prefer CNN myself biggrin.gif

Back to the topic, I think the Chicks have been and still are incredibly talented, and more than likely due to the quality of album, deserve their awards. I just prefer the artists I listen to, to sing, not talk about their political views to me!

FYI, On Keiths board, we are crying because he didn't win anything this time. On Vince's board we should be as happy as I'm sure Vince is smile.gif
