Vince told Kathy in Harris, MI that "What You Give Away" was going to be the next single. Do you think it's a good choice or should MCA go with a more uptmempo song?

I love "What You Give Away", but for commercial reasons I think something more uptempo might stand a better chance.

I think they should have released an uptempo song for the summer and saved What You Give Away for the third single (released sometime late this year/early next year). Vince needs a good uptempo 'fun' song for the summertime..those type of songs do really well at this time of year.

I love "What You Give Away" also, but don't think it's "rado friendly"- I think an uptempo song would be more acceptable at radio- maybe "Sweet Thing".

I love WYGA but I kind of agree with some of you. Radio would more likely play something like Sweet Thing.

I love What You Give Away but IMO it should be a more up-tempo song. I think it would be more "radio friendly".

While I would prefer a more uptempo song (Still Standin etc)....
I think "What You Give Away" may have a shot at getting decent airplay as a "message" song.
Add "Featuring Sheryl Crow" etc and those factors could push programmers to play it and more fans to request it.
(And let's hope the recent nod as "Album of the year" nominee with the ACMs helps too!)
Of course it would need a real good video showing that charity and giving is what it's all about!

There are so many great songs on this album.... I would like to see " The Rock of Your Love" I think this song would go far.

I'd like to see a lot of them as singles, but my vote for the next one is What You Give Away, just based on the response I've had from people I know who hear it.
An uptempo would also be nice, I just hope that whatever it is, it gets a LOT of airplay. I'd just love to see him with another number one.
As it is, with all the attention, nominations and awards, I'm really getting a "I told you he's the best" attitude.

I love "What You Give" But so many of the whole CD would be great! I think ROCK OF YOUR LOVE or SWEET THING would work lol Still don't think radio is willing to ever play him like they do the artists that are so hot now.I don't listen to radio at all anymore. They only play older Vince Songs and they ignore my requests lol.None of the artists out there now can ever come up to the talent Vince has I don't care how much money they make! No one can match Vince (IN MY OPINION) lol.hugs mamabear

You know, we all should have figured that "What You Give Away" was a very good possibility for the next single, since it's the song Vince sang at the CMA Awards last year. Usually artists will either sing their current single or next single at award shows.

I would love to see "Sweet Little Corrina" released. It's fun, uptempo, and would be radio friendly. I thing WYGA is a great song, but I don't see radio playing it all that much. Sheryl might help it a bit, but it's not fast enough for radio. I think it would be better in the fall....
I called my dj the other day and asked why he didn't play more Vince (I talk to him often and he respects my opinion, as I do his) and he said "Vince just isn't peppy enough with any of his new stuff." I think that's why all we tend to hear (or I do anyway) is the older stuff that's faster, like OMLC or WTCD or others that aren't ballads.

Well - just my thoughts....Vince has had "ballad" hits on radio before. So not sure what classify's as "peppy" and if that's the most important thing to get more airplay.

But I do agree, he should follow the "slower" "Reason Why" with a more up-tempo single.
Also, I like "Corrina" but it might sound a bit too early "1960's" - Don't get me wrong but it is meant to sound like an Everly Bros song so not sure how "HIP" country radio would react.
Again - just my 2 cents.

I agree Charlie and IMO I would be willing to bet that most people who listen to "country radio" ???? wouldn't even know what Sweet Little Corrina was about and maybe not even know who the Everly Brothers were

I would bet a year's pay that "Cowboy Up" would be a #1 if it was released as a single. That's based on today's "country" market. My personal favorite on These Days is "The Sight of Me Without You". Pretty tough to pick out one song when every CD is A+.

I think WYGA is a great song, but I don't think it's the greatest choice for a single. I think the best shot would be an uptempo from the rock disc.
Reall,y if I had my way, and if country radio was actually "country", I'd choose a single from the country & western disc and it would do well on the radio. That's my favorite disc of them all, but I do love all the discs.

Well, "What You Give Away" is going to be the next single. Allaboutcontry.com has it on their "new release" chart and from what I have heard a couple of radio stations are already playing it ahead of the April 2 release date.
