I am absolutely livid. I have always wanted to see VG, and was thrilled when he was coming to a town near me, so bought tickets right away. Well, it's tonight. I'm in New England, and we are in the middle of a blizzard...and they are not cancelling or postponing it. There's no way we can go...it's far to bad out...we're talking snowing sideways with ice and sleet to follow...if this was his choice, then he has just lost a fan. I'm out the money I paid

Well, just speaking for myelf...( no matter who made the decision to "carry on" with the show)....I would call the venue, and the agency you bought the ticket from and demand your money back - Tell them the conditions and your inability to get there. It cannot hurt to let your voice be heard. Also, if this happened to a lot of paying customers then if everyone "speaks up" just maybe it will help either refund your money or allow you to see another show etc....good luck.

I may be wrong, but I think it is up to the venue to cancel a show , ot the artist(unless the artist is ill). Last month it was the venue in IL that canceled Vince's show and then rescheduled it for a later date. He also had antoher show cancelled because of the weather and rescheduled-a gain I'm pretty sure it was the venue, not Vince. So maybe you should be angry at the venue, not Vince.

I said the same thing in my re-ply to Scott somehow when I hit reply it went in his post wrong and it made it look like I was angry.lol I just don't see why people are quick to blame Vince. He can call the venue and I bet they will refund his money.I feel it is up to the venue to postpone if needed,Vince signed a contract to do the show! The venue should know how their own roads are there they might not be that bad in that area,I don't know lol but why so quick to blame Vince, just call and request your money back lol big hugs mamabear

Well this was my 1st Vince Gill concert and I took my 80 year old mother to the concert tonight in Lowell. We got there early and I hate to tell you but it was the best show I have ever seen. It went no lie -- 3.5 hours long. Vince was great as was the entire band and I loved the tamborine player..she was amazing.
Sorry you missed the show - it was a great one -- I would say about 2/3's of the auditorium was full.
Thankfully we live a short distance away - otherwise any great distance I too would have had to have passed.
I imagine it would be a nightmare attempting to give refunds and maybe like the airlines they don't for weather related purposes. Vince was there ready to perform and the auditorium workers were ready so i'm sure no one could afford that sort of monetary loss or rescheduling.
No matter how you figure it though - it stinks for you -- i lost a couple hundred $$ in another winter concert once and was determined not to repeat it again - I know it stings.

The weather was horrible that night. Fortunately, I live about 20 miles from Lowell so we made the drive. It took about 45-50 minutes, versus the normal 25 minutes, but it was bad -- cars off the highway everywhere.
I expected to see the show cancelled, but throughout the day, the Web site for Lowell Memorial Auditorium posted that the show would be held as scheduled. Most likely the road crew and equipment trucks pulled in before the storm arrived (which locally was about noon).
I would plead my case with the Lowell Memorial Auditorium. I'm guessing if Ticketmaster had anything to do with your tickets, that you will be subject to Ticketmaster rules for refunds, and that could be tough.
But like what has been said, don't blame Vince. The decision probably involved the venue more than his own. I hope you catch him sometime -- he put on a heck of a show. I'm guessing that 85 percent of the sold-out show crowd made it. Honestly, though, had I been facing a hunded-mile or more drive to Lowell, I would have stayed home. As it was we left early and drove slow. Very slow.

I can't say for sure who made the decision to go on vs. cancel the show in this case, but I can tell you this: my husband is an event manager for a venue here in Minneapolis (he also worked as a manager of a venue in Nashville, TN when we lived there). In his experience in the entertainment venue business, it is generally the venue that makes the decision to cancel and/or postpone a show. In fact, in the big storm we had here in Minneapolis a few weeks ago, his venue postponed all their shows.
I have known Vince to change his personal plans many times when shows have been postponed due to weather or to be there for the fans, so if it something in his power, I know he would do the right thing. As the others mentioned, you could try to contact the venue and try to get your money back.

I've been a fan of Vince for 16 years and I think I would put my money on the venue making the call to go on with the show during a snowstorm. I'ts just not in Vince's nature to let his fans down.
I had tickets for his concert in Wabash IN on the 25th of last month which turned out to be the night of a wicked ice storm. He postponed and rescheduled it for April. I know that probably doesn't take away the disappointment you are experiencing, but if I were you, I would take the advice of the others that have responded to you posting, and call the venue. It never hurts to try for a refund. I hope you are able to see him soon, you would learn very quickly how much he cares for his fans.
Good luck,
Jackie
