We had 4 tickets and I've waited for months to see this concert. It was my 17th wedding anniversary, my husband bought tix for us months ago. Driving there would have been irresponsible, did Gil say that the show would go on or did Lowell Auditorium?

Reading the reviews that it was great, is painful.

Most likely it was the venue- Vince had two other shows cancelled due to bad weather this year and I'm pretty sure it was the venue's decision.

Vince is playing Lowell again on March 21.

At least you will get to see Vince when he comes back. Happy Anniversary.

My guess is that Lowell Memorial Auditorium and the folks promoting the show, made the call. The auditorium's Web site was posting a notice that the event would go on as scheduled hours before the storm started.

Hopefully you can make the March 21 show. BTW, I also see that he will be performing at Meadowbrook in Gilford, New Hampshire in July. I saw him there a few years ago, and it is a great outdoor (covered) venue. No chance of snow then, either!

As I mentioned in another post, it was likely the venue that made the decision to continue with the show. My husband has been an event manager for entertainment venues for many years (currently in Minneapolis, he was in Nashville, TN before that). In his years of experience in the venue business, it has always been the venue's call whether to cancel or postpone a show.

Many times they will put off the decision until the last minute or not cancel it as all because in most contracts, they have to pay the talent whether the show takes place or not. If they cancel a show, they still have to pay the booking fees and commission, but they miss the income of the concessions, ticket sales that night, etc. so sometimes they don't cancel when they probably should. In fact, my husband's venue just had to cancel a performance a couple weeks ago when we had a big storm come through Minneapolis (20" of snow).

For those who missed this show the other night, you might want to contact the venue to see if you might be able to exchange your tickets for the March 21 show.

When I called to find out if the show was on or not, I was told that if the artisit made it to the venue, then the show would go on. I expect that Vince and crew made it to Lowell before the snow started. I am so sorry that you missed such a great show. Check the "tour" page, he's coming back to New England for several shows this summer. I would also call Lowell Auditorium to see if they will exchange your tickets for Wednesday nights show. You might not get the same seats as you have, but at least you will be there. Good luck.

According to someone who contacted the venue, if yoiu had at icket to Firday's show and couldn't make it because of the weahter, they are allowing you to exchange it for tomorrow's night show.
