Did Bon Jovi go country?! I didn't realize that recording one song with Sugarland 'automatically' made him a country singer, yet his song is on the country charts and it's rising faster than Vince!! It really irks me when country radio stations ignore actual country artists in favor of these rock stars who have never been country in their life! My cousin in NJ was a huge Bon Jovi fan back in the 80s...she still likes him, but I wonder if she knows he's gone country now...and I remember the controversy one of his songs stirred up in my highschool...the class wanted to use a certain song for our class song...well, the Principal finally decided to let the song be used as the class song, but it couldn't be played at graduation because of some of the lyrics...now I couldn't tell you what the lyrics were, because I could never understand the words to the song! I think it had something to do with friends...

Bon Jovi performed their new song on the CMT Video awards show too. I do agree with you Valerie, I felt that more actual country artists should have performed rather than Bon Jovi.

ROTFLOL! Well as an extra added attraction along with Bon Jovi, just add Sheryl Crow and Jewel to the mix and I'd say you have your new "Classic Country" artists. Okay, just kidding. It's so funny to see that as soon as these artists get too "old" to get prime time on VH1, that they all of a sudden become 'country artists' and wind up on CMT, which is probably more 'age tolerant.'
I know Amy Grant is certainly not a country artist and has never pretended to being one, but even she received a country award back in the '80's for a gospel song she did that did sound a bit country called "T'is So Sweet To Trust In Jesus." I guess that qualifies her for being just as country as the rest of 'em. :-)

Well, I think if these older rock stars can get played on country radio, then maybe the older country stars should send their stuff to rock radio! *L* It doesn't make sense than any real country artist over the age of 45 (unless you're named George Strait) can't get played on country radio, but yet the likes of Bon Jovi, Kid Rock, Sheryl Crowe, etc, *can.*
