Did anyone go to Vince's concert at the Ryman July 5th?? gillgirl IN PA>
I believe there were a number of people who went. I don't know what the problem has been but recently people haven't been willing to post reviews of Vince's concerts. I hope somebody will start the ball rolling and let us know how it was. I notice once again the Tennessean didn't feel the need to give us a review.

I didn't go this year. We're getting ready for vacation right now and we just had too much going on. I'm sure it was a great show, tho.
We did just get a couple of good seats for the Atlanta show. We've looked forever for good seats to that show with no luck. Guess it pays to keep checking ticketmaster because it appears someone turned some tickets back in and the seats were decent, so we snapped them up !!!
That's great, Becky. I have to wait until Sept, I'm going to the Indio concert. Hopefully people will post some reviews so I know what to expect. I'm intrigued by the Vince, Amy & Del concerts.

I would think the "Friends & Family Tour" will be exellent, I went to the "These Days Tour" and Vince put on a great show I loved the 17 piece band it added to the show! This new Tour will not be any where near where I live, I would love to see this concert. I hope someone posts and let's us know how the concert is??? gillgirl IN PA>

Thanks for posting the review. Vince is one of the best bluegrass players around, he just can't admit it.

Hi guys,
John and I were at the Bluegrass at the Ryman show on Thursday night. We go every year. Vince was in rare form, embellishing stories left and right. He stalls a lot when he's playing bluegrass because that mandolin is hard work! It was a great bunch of musicians and it was terrific to see the lovely and talented Andrea Zohn (that may not be the correct spelling of her last name) again. She is expecting a baby boy whose name will be "Martin'. At some point during the show Vince was asking Andrea about the baby and if they had a name picked out and she said "Martin' and Vince heard "Morton" and when she corrected him he said "oh, I thought you were naming the baby after a steak but instead you are naming him after a guitar'. Typical Vince.
Vince also announced that Charlie Cushman just got married. There seems to have been a big run on weddings in Vinces band lately. On Saturday John and I were at Frugal MacDougal's, (the giant liquor store) and we ran smack into Tom Britt. We had a nice chat and congratulated him on his new bride, Bekka. He told us that they go into rehearsals for the Vince, Amy and Del tour this week. John and I will see that show in Copper Mt, Colorado Labor Day weekend.
We talked at the show with Hugh, the 'super sound' man, and he was telling us that Vince and band will be on stage a lot of the time at the Crossroads Guitar Festival later this month because they will be backing up some of the other artists, including Sheryl Crow. John and I will be at that show as well and look forward to it. Hugh said it will be awesome.
On Friday night we went to the Mercy Lounge for Charlie Louvin's 80th Birthday Bash. It was so much fun, he sang for two hours. Then on Saturday he was signing autographs at Grimey's Record store, so we went by there and had a nice chat with him. He's a sweetie and so personable.
It was another great weekend in Nashville!

I have always loved to listen to Vince. I did not see him in concert until April 2007 when he brought his tour to the Ryman. He played forever to a packed house! Lucky me! His lovely wife introduced him. He did tell us that he loved to play and he only lives around the corner so be prepared to stay a while. I am sorry that I did not get the chance to see him sooner. The next day - I purchased tickets to see him on July 5th at the Ryman Bluegrass Thursdays!! Again - outstanding!! Packed house.I could listen to him forever. Amy was also in the audience - as she was in April. I have the cd pack THESE DAYS. If you have not purchased this - you are missing out on everything Vince has to offer (humor not included). Vince is at the top of my list for everything!! Go see him!! Best show ever! Trudy in Nashville.

[size=2]Hi GillGirl -
I flew from California to see Vince at the Ryman Bluegrass show on July 5. It was great - totally worth the 4+ hour flight. He was funny like usual, which makes the show even better. I checked with the Ryman before the show to see how long it would be - she said maybe 1-2 hours. I was thinking - This woman is nuts to think that Vince would play 1-2 hours for his part of the show. We didn't leave until about 10:20pm that evening. I was just loving every minute of it. I called the Ryman back in April (I think) to get tickets for this show, and I got 11 rows back almost in the middle. I got to walk up front and take fairly close pics of him.
I was just sitting there staring at him not realizing that I was up there to take pictures and not be in anyone's view! Great night overall!
