Solid summertime fun with Vince & Amy (must have been too early for Corrina to get up, though!). Vince & band performed "Sweet Thing" and "Don't Let Our Love Start Slipping Away" during the show's 2nd hour, followed shortly after by an onstage interview by Matt Lauer with V&A.
During the 3rd hour, Amy sang "The Lucky One" backed by Vince & band. Vince didn't sing; he provided great reggae-style rhythm, while Tom Britt handled some tasty slide guitar leads. The sound was great and the band sounded wonderful, very "alive", for lack of a better term. Not bad for playing so early in the morning!
The interview ended on a funny exchange, but I haven't quite deciphered all that was said at that point...perhaps someone else here can do so. After Amy said that Jenny will be doing the next 3 weeks of the current tour, Vince noted that she (Jenny) has been with him on "Today" before. This apparently triggered some memory of that previous show with Matt Laurer, who said he remembered that occasion. Something must have happened during that earlier show but, as everyone was talking at once at this point this morning, I couldn't understand what Laurer was getting at. I got the impression they were sharing a private joke....Vince leaned forward, as if to add a comment, when Laurer teasingly told him, "Don't get me started!!". This made Vince laugh very hard.
Wondering what it was they were reminiscing about....?

I thought that was a funny interchange also. For those who missed the show here's a link to a brief summary along with three vdieos- one for each song.

Wonderful recall, stpete! I saw the show this morning, and reading your review made me relive it all over again. It was a nice show! Vince and Amy looked and sounded so good. Vince certainly doesn't "look" 50 and Amy was her precious self. I enjoyed every minute of it. Apparently so did everyone else. That place was packed! And, I love it when Vince said, "good lookin' dancin' ya'll"! Too cute!

The year Vince missed the FF Amy appeared on the Today Show, I think she was promoting Rock of Ages. Jenny sang backup for her. There was some suggestion that Vince wasn't feeling so good when he sang House of Love with Amy, maybe they were referring to that.

I jsut watched the video again- after Amy says Jenny is a very good singer, Matt says "she's been here before" then Vince leans in to say something(it sounded like "she said to leave her alone") Al Roker says " I know that story" and Matt is laughingsayig "One of hte most embarrassing moments of my life". So ti really sounds like it's something about Jenny.

Vince and Amy were just beautiful together today on the Today Show. They both sounded great, what a concert. Amy talked about her book coming out in October "Mosaic" and her Greatest Hits CD also. They looked so Happy and Cute together, I'm glad I taped it! gillgirl In PA.

Did anyone happen to catch the sign propped on Billy's drums? Someone made Vince (I'm assuming) a happy 50th birthday sign, and it was on the drums for both performances. I thought that was kinda cool!
Vince sounded and looked great, as did Amy. I'll have to go back and watch the interview...somehow missed it!
