Triple digits again! Suppose to be 108 today and not much of a cool down in the near future. What is it like where you live, and do you have air conditioning?

It's been running about 97+ here and with the heat index it feels like it's over 100. We do have a/c, but don't put it on until late afternoon because it's so expensive to run all day! And then we keep it about 85+ in here.

and yes I do have air conditioning. It's pretty humid here. Has been for about a month now. Got maybe 2 more months to go then hopefully the mornings and evenings will start cooling down.

Oh yeah...we've got 2 A/C units in this house!!! One for the house and one for the bonus room upstairs...and both are on...they seem to be running non-stop and we're leaving the temp on 80 in the house and running ceiling fans in the living room and bedrooms...and still, my power bill is higher than this time last year, when I had the thermostat set on 77 all the time...gotta love the power and the gas company...we're either paying higher prices during the summer for power, or higher prices during the winter for gas heat...
Down here in AL, I think the high's are like 97 or 98 degrees each day...we did luck out with some rain on Saturday and Sunday..but the heat index is well over 100...so yep, we're melting here in the south too...we went out to the theme park last Friday afternoon and I almost fainted a few times...it was just so hot out there...we stuck it out tho, and saw the 4 Nashville star finalists (Matt Mason, Nicole Jamrose, Casey Rivers, and winner, Chris Young) on Friday night...they all put on a really good concert...this Friday, The Charlie Daniels Band will be here...so we're hoping to make it back out there for that one too..maybe it will cool down...I'd even settle for rain and wouldn't mind getting wet as long as it cooled things down a bit...

Hitting triple digits today in NJ and the "real feel" is 108. Of course it's the humidity that does you in the most. We have central air, but only keep the temp at about 79/80...just like it dry, not cold. I'm so sick of going to restaurants and movies and freezing to death. I swear your food is cold before you can even finish. Not looking forward to going out in this today, but John has a doctor's appointment (no surprise there, right) and I'm taking him, the kids and grand-kids out to dinner as Wednesday will be his 60th birthday. After what we went through last year....we are going to celebrate!!!!!!!
Stay cool everyone.

That's really strange! We're cooler (definitely a relative term) here in SW Florida than most of you! Hubby is in Missouri visiting family and it's hotter there even than it is here. And according to him a lot more humid.

Oh how I remember that Midwestern humidity. Living in Indiana for 25 years .I actually can deal with the heat here better than the combination of the 2 back there. And I don't have to shovel anything in the winter.
Evy,I might go to Florida sometime around Christmas. Haven't decided for sure.

Thanks for the birthday wishes for John, guys!!! We are so blessed that he is still here to celebrate. No candles on the cake....didn't want to add to the heatwave *L*.
Stay cool everyone and keep checking up on the kids and elderly (people like us *L*).

It's been in the upper 90's here, too, with some serious humidity. Last night, we had some terrible lightning and thunder, with pounding rains. It was supposed to drop the humidity and just be in the upper 80's today. I haven't been outside yet to know if it's cooler!
I know what you mean about being soo cold inside places. It's 100 outside, but you have to take a jacket to the mall or a restaurant to keep from freezing in there! It should just be enough to keep the humidity out, not enough to deep freeze a steak!!

I always take a jacket everywhere we go, even if I just keep it in the car. But lately here, the stores/restaurants haven't been that cold. About the only place I need to wear a jacket is when we go grocery shopping. Sometimes on Sunday in IHOP I'll need my jacket, but it depends on where they seat us as to whether I do need it or not.

Understand that, Mary...we froze in the theater a few weekends ago...it was stinking hot outside, so I was looking forward to a cool theater, but by the time Superman Returns was over (it's a 2 1/2 hour movie), Bruce and I were both about frozen!!! Then it was back into the heat again...
It does seem weird that some of the northern states are getting hit really hard with the heat this year...today's forecast for here was high 90's with a heat index of well over 100 degrees...and we're under an ozone alert, so I'm staying inside today...Maegan's school supplies will just have to wait until next week when I have to get out to take her to the dentist for a cleaning anyway!!!

Wisconsin isn't much better! We hit triple digits the last few days! But better now. Today it was only 90 and a huge breeze helped out alot! It is suppose to get to high 60's tonight. Nice sleeping! But we are praying for rain! Everything is so dry and burned up! There was a thunderstorm all around us but never rained a drop here in Clintonville!
The heat doesn't really bother me as the humidity does.
Stay cool everyone!

We were very close to 100 today where I live in PA. Tonight we had some rain, and it actually felt a little cooler. It wasn't really cool, just not so hot. We are running the ceiling fans, and the AC. Our cats our just laying around, you can tell it is even bothering them.

Hot here too in Kentucky. Suppose to be 98 today. I am glad I work in an air conditioned office. My husband works in a tire plant and the heat is miserable there.

It's been in the high 90's to h00's with the humidity here in northern NJ- last ngiht we had a series of wicked thunderstorms (the lightning lit up the sky almost like fireworks) and it seems to have broken the humidity- at least for now. It's 77 right now compared to 82 at this time yesterday. Tomorrow it's only supposed to get into the low 90's.

Our weather has been awful. 111, then a 'cool' 108! Last night we had thunder and lightning, problem was, no rain, so hopefully not to many more fires started! Today is cloudy, humid, and hot already. I'm off to visit my mom in a bit, it is a little cooler where she is, probably in the mid 90's. *L*

We're supposed to have a 'cold front' come thru later this week, bringing temps down to the mid 90s with about a 30% chance of rain. I think they said highs around 96, but after highs of 104 and 106, 96 will feel like spring. *L*

Weather is really crazy all over, isn't it? Mary Anne, since I was right below you in southern Jersey, we got hit real hard last night, too. We lost a big tree, one of our nicest and out front....of course. It fell into the neighbor's driveway and just missed their 2 cars, don't know how but it did. I was sick when I saw that tree down this morning, but luckily we were able to get people out today and clean it up...even mulched up the trunk/roots. Now we need to get something else in there for a replacement as it looks so bare and totally changed the look of the landscaping between the 2 driveways. We also lost power for over 8 hours, starting at 8:30 last night, but there are some areas in Pennsy that won't have power again until this weekend.
Hey, Mary Lou and Shirl, how did you guys make out? I know Pennsy was hit really hard and if I don't see any posts I will assume you guys are without power. Hope all is well.

The heat has been so miserable here, 113, 115 since last week. This morning was the first morning I could open my front door and have it cooler outside than the 80 I have my house set for! Of course about 5 minutes later I had to close the door because the air kicked on, and it was only 6:30AM.
My sisters area has lost power off and on for a few days now. Funny thing, they opened their windows to help cool down their upstairs, and one of the kids opened a window that didn't have a screen on it, and a bat flew in their house *L*. I'm one thousand percent sure it was my brother in law who got to remove the bat somehow LOL. They have been sleeping outside because it is so hot, and believe me, camping is not my sisters style
Unfortunately there has been several deaths in the area due to the heat, hope you all are doing ok!

It's all the same here. Not as hot as it is in California, but nevertheless it's hot. I'm melting. Since two months we have temps about 100 and lately a little over 100.

Geez, it's just hot everywhere isn't it??? Pam, I heard about the power blackouts in NYC, but didn't know it was happening out in CA too...I remember a time when I was just a kid and a bat got into our house...we were watching tv at night and this black thing flew above our heads in the den...that was pretty scary!!! My father finally found it and whacked it with a tennis racket!!! I think he only stunned it and then he quickly put it outside!!!
We've got our thermostat set on 80 degrees this year as well..we're paying more than we ever have on our power bill and last year we left the thermostat on 77 degrees...I hear the A/C coming on all hours of the day and night here...we're running ceiling fans in the living room and 2 of the bedrooms constantly to try to make it livable in the house...I'm even bringing the dogs inside during the day so they don't have to stay outside in the heat...I'm dreading getting that power bill this time...and to think that we probably have 2 more months of hot weather before things will start to cool off down here...at least we have had some rain here lately...parts of B'ham have been under a drought warning and they have imposed a grass watering schedule to conserve water...these days, I'm thankful for every drop of rain that comes out of the sky!!!
Pam, hope this is over soon, for your sister's sake...
