Full Version: Paul Simon

Went to see Paul Simon (sans Art Garfunkle mad.gif ) (I know they don't perform together any more). I am more familiar with their music together but I will say it was a real treat seeing at least 1/2 of one of the best and most successful duos in the history of music. I loved all their music. Paul was very well received and had 3 encores. He was very gracious and also had a great sense of humor. He did a couple of the old songs, like Bridge Over Troubled Water( I would have cried had he not done that one). The Boxer and Me and Julio. Can't remember the titles of his other music. Great show though.

One thing that was very cool.gif .............Jerry Douglas band opened for him. Very different sound but excellent. Y'all know him, right? He was with Allison Krause and Union Station. He has been doing several shows with various artist. He was funny too. Wish I could have ask him if some of Allison's humor had rubbed off on him.
All in all it was a very enjoyable evening..............with one exception.

I save my tickets as souvenirs from all the concerts I see and would you believe all the years that have past since Paul Simon and Art Garfunkle was hot and I get a chance to see one perform and I lose my ticket. ohmy.gif I suppose I'll have to steal my daughters or son-in-laws. Oh,well,I need to be more careful laugh.gif

footnote: Just found my son-in-laws ticket in my purse. Not my seat # but hey at least I have a ticket

Thanks for telling us about the concert, Anna...sounds really nice!!! I've never seen Paul Simon...and have to confess that I would only recognize the Simon & Garfunkle songs!!!

I am familiar with Jerry Douglas..he has performed alot with AKUS, but he has never actually been a part of the AKUS band...they always bill them as Allison Kraus & Union Station with special guest, Jerry Douglas...I guess that leaves him open to go out and perform on his own or with other bands...Bruce and I saw them a few years ago and we howled at Allison during the whole concert..she definitely has a 'quirky' sense of humor!!!

Sorry you lost your ticket, Anna...I know how you feel...I like to keep my tickets from concerts too...I haven't ever done anything special with them, but I do like to keep them!!!

Anna,

That sounds like a great show....

They are classic, aren't they....Their music (to me) always gave off this vibe of peace, in a grab your attention, sort to speak.. I don't know really, how to describe it....I bet that concert was a good one!!!

I'm another one who likes to keep my ticket stubs. Usually I'll put them in my photo album in front of the pictures, if I have pictures. If not, then I don't really do anything special with them. It's just kind of a nice momento, especially if they don't allow pics.
