It was when I saw him on one of the award shows and I think Vince was best new male performer ????? Not sure of that . It's been a long time ago but it was that pure, clear ,beautiful voice . What has kept me a fan is how Vince conducts his life and his loyalty to family, friends and country music . His heart

Also, he's pretty cute

Back in 1979, my dad was a fan of Pure Prairie League. We saw Vince playing with them at Disneyland in late 1979. I just turned 4 years old.
My baby brother was about 8 months old at the time. My mom and dad were walking around after the show and Vince came out and said Hi to them and held my brother. My mom said I held on to her leg and just stared at Vince and would not take my eyes off of him. I knew his voice from that early age and wouldn't listen to the other PPL songs, only the ones Vince sang. My favorites from that time were: Let me Love you Tonight, Misery Train, Can't Fight this Feeling. I think when Vince went to Nashville, the first song I remember liking was Cinderella and Colder Than Winter. Boy - he sure has a voice like an angel! I can listen to him sing anytime and not get tired of listening!
Hope to meet him again one day!

I liked his voice, but didn't know who he was. My son gave me one of his cd's for a Christmas present and that was all she wrote *L* Seeing his face, then watching him play guitar hooked me forever

I Still Believe In You & You And You Alone did it for me. I started buying all his cd's after watching those videos. I used to do a search for when they came on and I would watch them again & again & again.

One day in 1990 I was trying to find a music video to watch before leaving for work. I wasn't yet a country music fan although I grew up listening to Johnny Cash and every genre of music out there; I was a pop and Christian music fan. (I love Amy Grant, she's my fav) Well the video for When I call your name was on TNN. I stopped everthing I was doing and stood transfixed to my tv. I patiently waited for the end to find out who this man was who had such an incredible voice. I said aloud Who is Vince Gill and what is he doing singing country music with a voice like that? That was it I was hooked. I've bought every cd he's put out w/ MCA. Along the way I became a country music fan.

Mine was Which Bridge to Cross, Which Bridge to Burn... then When Love Finds You. Obviously it must have been when that CD was out, and I just happened to be surfing through channels when I heard "the voice". I just totally fell in love with that voice. From then on it was Country radio for me! It was fun finding out what he looked like (YUM) and that he played the lead guitar on the songs (WOW what a revelation) and that he wrote the songs... and then of course that he was a fantastic generous funny person. I've been like a teenager ever since!!

I'm not sure what song - whatever radio was playing in 1989 of his and then he came to the Puyallup Fair and I've been hooked and tried to see him every time he came this direction - couldn't get enough of listening to him then or ever since! He's absolutely the best ever!

I have been a Vince fan since about 1990....I was about 10 or 11 and I just remembering loving his voice, and his humor!!! I have come to love and appreciate him more and more over the years. Now that I am older I think I truely appreciate what a great musician he is as well. Plus....it is great to see someone who has great character and integrity as well. So, after 17 years.....Vince is and always will be number one with me.

I never liked country music at ALL, aside from John Denver and Kenny Rogers that my parents listened to. The twangy stuff was not for me! I was an Amy Grant fan, though, and absolutely loved "House of Love". I became intrigued with the male voice on that song, and didn't know who it was. Then I found out it was Vince and started looking for/listening to anything I could find by him. The looks, playing, writing, humor and humbleness were all bonuses. I actually started listening to country radio just to hear him, and gradually grew to love a lot more country. The rest is history. Now it's all I listen to, but no one else compares to Vince's voice. I can't put into words what his voice does to me. I know it sounds corny, but listening to Vince puts me in an emotional place that nothing else does. It's some sort of peaceful zone, where it feels like everything in the world is all right. If I'm happy, it makes me exponentially happier. If I'm sad, it takes the grief and pain and makes it somehow turn to calm and peace. It's just something about Vince that does that for me. He will never know what he does to me...and I don't know how better to explain it. I'm sure he thinks I'm some sort of freak! Every time I'm around him, I have nothing to say. Well, I have a LOT to say, but it either comes out as a blabbering fool or nothing at all comes out because I'm tongue tied! I've seen a LOT of concerts, but have never enjoyed any as much as one minute of a Vince concert.

Mary Redd about your post --- I get what you are saying. Love your way of saying it --- even if you can't say it around Vince! I can relate. lol!
I only met Vince since These Days, and a Vinceaholic I have become.

Mary, believe me I totally get what you're saying, too! That voice... it just makes me, well - it just makes me sigh. It's a miracle I haven't crashed my car 'cause his voice just makes me close my eyes -- especially when he ends some of those songs on those high notes. <sigh...>

Like a teenager, I tell ya... it's ridiculous.
