"How Lonely Looks" has been out like 5 weeks and yet to crack the charts....radio is just not playing it. I am not blaming anyone - it's just a fact.
Maybe the crowd radio is playing for does not want to hear it....IE: they want to hear Chesney,McGraw,Paisley,Urban,Underwood.....who knows.
Or radio has only so many slots and too many artists to choose from....it happens.

I do think possibly a more up tempo song might get more airplay but at this point I am not holding my breath for another top 10 hit.

Vince is a class act and I am sure he will continue to try and get country radio airplay but know doubt there is other avenues to get his music heard and CD's sold!

Also - I vote for "Sweet Thing" as the next single if there is one.

I have to say I thought this was an odd choice for the next single (don't get me wrong - I love the song. I love every song on the whole boxed set). It just doesn't seem the least bit "country" to me. More like an Adult Contemporary format song. Sure wish the label would release some of these songs to another format. I bet they'd stand a better chance of being played than on the Country chart.

I agree. Also, now that the "physical" CD has sold well, if they release multiple singles to multiple formats (ie: the duet with Diana Krall - to Jazz radio)...maybe that will spark more individual music downloads of individual songs for Vince (it cannot hurt) and may sell more CD's or even complete online downloads....so many great songs - so many potential genres to reach out to:
Adult Contemporary
Americana Radio
Bluegrass Radio
Christian Radio
Jazz Radio
Folk Radio
and of course Country radio ("New country" stations and also "old" country stations that play more old songs and older artists...)
Just My Honest Opinion...

I also thought "How Lonely Looks" was an odd choice for a single.

I agree maybe an up tempo song would do alittle better. Maybe "Rythum of the Pouring Rain".

Good choice and a "racy" subject smile.gif

Let's face it! Great song! Bad choice for radio! I think all of your points are well taken. The record company must take the blame. You need to study Country Radio & pick something that you think they MIGHT play. Don't pick a song everyone knows from the start that they WILL NOT play! There were numerous other obvious choices that should have been made. Also the TV apperances didn't always tie in with the singles releases.

Reg, I don't want to face it! LOL

I think that *if* MCA would release Vince & Reba's duet from her Duets album, that might be a start to get Vince back on the radio. After that song, then release an uptempo song from These Days. Not sure which one I would choose to release, but I think something from the Rockin' Record would be a good choice, since, when it comes to Vince lately, uptempo seems to get more airplay.

Every point well taken ..............Who does decide what to release ? Does Vince have any say over it ?
JBC
As I have said in the past, I don't think it makes any difference which song gets released as singles. Radio won't play them. From what Vince has said in the past I don't think Vince really wants to be the one to decide. I wouldn't mind them releasing an uptempo song but wouldn't expect that it would get played that much more.

I'll be very surprised if Vince's duet is released as a single. I hope I'm wrong but it seems they are going for the non-country market with Reba's album and Vince really doesn't bring in any new people. There are exceptions, but the people who listen to Reba are the same people who listen to 'Vince.

Who decides when to release a "country" artist to the Adult Contemporary" or other charts? Why won't MCA (or whoever) do this for Vince?? I subscribe to Billboard Magazine, and in the Top 25 on the AC chart currently are Faith Hill, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Leann Rimes, and Big & Rich - plus the Eagles' latest, "How Long"!!! This drives me crazy, absolutely crazy. I honestly think it's time for Vince to part ways with MCA -- or something!!??.
