The connection between country artists and their gospel roots has been strongly displayed in the last few years, with Alan Jackson, Alabama, Brenda Lee and other acts recording successful gospel CDs. Here, the genres are fused as country artists perform gospel classics live at the Grand Ole Opry. Charlie Daniels teams with Third Day frontman Mac Powell for a spirited rendition of "I'll Fly Away" that provides a rousing opening track. Brad Paisley's stripped-down version of "The Old Rugged Cross" demonstrates what a compelling vocalist he is without bells and whistles, and Trace Adkins' rich, powerful bass breathes new life into "Wayfaring Stranger." Vince Gill's stunning performance of "Give Me Jesus" is elegant and inspiring. An upcoming TV special on GAC dedicated to the album will spotlight this powerful and deserving project.

This was a great show, Reggie. We were there for the taping and it was just magnificent. Vince singing 'Give Me Jesus' always gives me chill bumps. I'm so glad they are airing this show on GAC. We've got our copies of the cd ordered...can't wait to get them!!!

I was glued to my TV during this show! It was awesome! Vince's voice is so pure. Carrie was wonderful, as was Sarah. Charlie and Brad and Dierks were very good, as was Trace! What a show!
Becky - I bet that was an awesome taping to attend!

Will just have to wait until I get a copy on tape to see it. I did buy the CD Wednesday and played it today but didn't get to Vince since my mom called and I had to stop it off, then had to get ready before my father came to take us out for my birthday dinner.

I was also glued to my TV watching all the performances - so glad to see the stars singing Christian songs and so many people actually wanting to see this. Vince was the best, in my opinion - I loved his quote about "I'm not ready to lead a Bible Study yet". - Hey Vince, none of us qualify for that; we all could learn more and more everyday. LOL I would surely buy a DVD if it was available. Hint! Hint!

I got my album from the Opry today; haven't had a chance to sit down and listen to it, but I definitely will soon. I'm so glad I actually got to see the show on TV.

I have the Grand Ole Opry gospel cd in my car and have been playing it everyplace I go. Although I enjoy it all I can hardly wait till it gets to song 10 and "Give Me Jesus". Also think Carrie Underwood did a great job on "How Great Thou Art".
I bought mine at the local Family Christian and was $13.99 and I had a coupon so it was down to $11 something.
Definitely a great cd.

I was also at the How Great Thou Art taping. It was a great night for Gospel and Country Artist coming together for the Opry. It was awesome. I am sure it will be back on tv one day, so just keep an eye open for GAC. I didn't get to watch all of it, and my VCR/DVD is not connected right, so I didn't get to tape it. I would love a copy of it, too. Hopefully it will come back on soon.

I don't get GAC either but, I can only imagine that it was a great show to see on TV or even better in person. The CD set list sounds great, hoping I can find one this weekend.

I also bought the cd, and love it. I agree, listening to Vince singing, "Give Me Jesus", brings your emotions right to the surface. I just sit there and cry every time. It's just such a simple song, but so beautifully done by Vince.

It was a great show! I'm lucky - Don figured out how to tape it. I fast forward to... you know which performance.
