I'm on the West Coast w/o Direct TV. How did he slam Kanye West?

Vince said "I can't believe a Beatle gave me this award. When was the last time a Beatle game you an award, Kanye?" That was almost the exact quote from Vince.

Quotes from the Grammy Awards:

"I just got an award given to me by a Beatle. Have you had that happen yet, Kanye? ... Just kidding." - Vince Gill, accepting the award for best country album from Ringo Starr.

I just got this from Bilboard.com Ringo Starr and Eurythmics principal Dave Stewart bestowed the best country album Grammy to Vince Gill's "These Days," a four-disc project which is also nominated for album of the year. "I just had an award given to me by a Beatle! Have you had that happen to you yet, Kanye?," Gill joked.

That was what Vince said...I think it was a reaction to a comment made earlier by Kanye where he said that if he didn't win album of the year then it should go to Amy Winehouse or some other guy (not sure of his name). The comment was pretty rude considering there were other people in the category (including Vince) so I am sure this was just Vince's way of standing up for the comment...and well done if you ask me

That's exactly what I thought, Leah...Kanye seemed so full of himself with that comment, like he and Amy were the only ones nominated or something! And Kanye was so mumbling with the names that the only ones I could understand were Amy and himself. Vince didn't win AOTY, so everyone on the west coast can go to bed after the 3 hour 20 minute mark or so.

anyone know at what point/time of the show vince said this??? musta been earlier than the last hour , huh? i think i will give up and go to bed.............such amazing speeches and performances! good lord......makes me sooo proud to be a country fan! how in the worlddo people listen to this other crap.......and some have the nerve to make fun of country music??? ha! the class and grace and actual talent that country artists have is unreal compared to these sleeze balls like kanye.

The Country Album award was given out about 3 hours and 15 minutes into the show.

hey allright........i just saw it! what a class act vince is. i think from the reaction of the crowd that everyone knew exactly what vince meant to do........to make it obvious that he was pointing out kanye's classless comments in a classy way.
so many awards shows have vince making the comment of th enight, and this is another one! i actually wish he woulda said more, but he's classier than me! i love him more and more all the time! way to go vinny......oh and he won the award too!

He didn't "slam" West, he was teasing with him, and that's how West took the comment, just as everyone here should.

I agree...it wasn't a slam to West! They were both laughing!

I also agree that he was just joking around . He is just to cute .
