Country star Vince Gill has insisted that he didn't upset Kanye West at Sunday's Grammy Awards.

The singer, who was nominated in the Album of the Year category alongside West, teased the rapper about the fact he was handed a gong by the former Beatle Ringo Starr.

Gill said: "I just got an award given to me by a Beatle. Have you had that happen yet, Kanye?"

However, Gill revealed afterwards that West had found the comment amusing and that it was meant in "fun".

Speaking backstage at the ceremony, he said: "I'm a smartass. You know, I can't help it.

"He [Kanye West] seemed to think that he and Amy [Winehouse] were the only ones worthy of the Album of the Year tonight. And I was just having some fun. He laughed, so it was all in good spirit."

LOL...that was exactly why I thought he made the comment. I am sure the comment by Kanye bothered him a little and he just had to say something...even if it was in fun. Vince has such a great way of handling things like that and I am sure it was never intended to be nasty..just wanted to poke a little fun at Kanye for his earlier comment.

I have been a fan of Vince Gill for fifteen years now. I have all his albums, including "These Days" (which is EXCELLENT). Vince is one of the few muscians that I don't hesitate to purchase his work because I know that all the tracks on the CD will be great songs.

I have enjoyed watching Vince win awards and host award shows over the years.

I've never laughed so hard as when I watched Vince accept his Grammy award for "Best Country Album" on Sunday, February 10, 2008. I know that Vince has a funny bone, but I have to say that this has to be one of the funniest deliveries I've seen. What a great comeback to Kanye's arrogant remarks. FINALLY Kanye was put into timeout...hehe.

Only someone like Vince has the clout to pull off this move. Way to go Vince!!! Now I'm an even bigger fan if that's even possible!!!!

For all you Vince Gill Fans....if you haven't purchased "These Days" you have to consider buying this for Valentine's Day....I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed.
