After seeing Vince on the two Clapton Cross Roads DVD's and liking him, my husband and I were intrigued. Then when I saw as he accepted his Grammy and put Kanye West in his place, I immediately said "I want to support that man's music". So I went on-line and ordered These Days from Amazon.

My husband and I are not big country fans, but after lsitening to this, we've paid $20 to join Vince's fan club and are going to see him in Aug in Chataqua, NY.

My fav disc is #2, which is not surprising since it is the least country. The duets and harmonies are fantastic. Disc #1 is the second fav - we would chill with Vince any day! Discs 3 & 4 are equally as good. What a great songwriter and artist Vince is, as well as a fine guitar player (if Clapton likes him, he has to be great, right?!)

Country fan or not, I say buy this one!

What a shame that it took this 'convert' so long. Sure has missed out on many, many years of great music, huh? smile.gif

Geesh...that could have been written by me almost.....only I got hooked last year after my husband dragged me to a Vince concert.....

and I do mean dragged.....

and I do mean hooked.......

Now I'm the one fighting to get the good seats at his upcoming shows!

What a difference a year makes....
Mary Redd
Dawn, sorry 'bout the dragging, but glad you're hooked!!!! It doesn't take long, does it? I have so many people tell me "I don't like country music. It's all twangy and depressing." and I tell them it's 80's music now! Plus, if you just listen with an open ear to Vince, you WILL love the music. How can you not love his heart??? tongue.gif

You are so right..today's country music is like 80's music.

I have to be patient when my friends say "Vince Gill? Country music? I don't listen to that." because I was the same way....I remember actually complaining that his concert was going to be three and half hours long, and I just would not be able to live throught that! Three and half hours of country music??? And I wouldn't know any of the songs???? By the end of the show I did know his songs and his music, and I was a country music convert, or at least a Vince Gill convert. I could not believe it was over so fast! I think I was on my feet first before anybody else cheering and clapping the loudest hoping he would not leave! No...he left and now I just have to go to more shows. Now three and half hours just ain't long enough! And yes, his heart shines through his music!

I'm one of the many proud ones to say that I've known this about Vince and his music going on 25 years now! Or at least, soon to be 25 years! Vince has been putting music in my ears and heart for so long now! I hope I live at least another 25 years to continue to hear his music and watch his 'heart' in action!

I first saw VG at the old Palamino in North Hollywood,Ca. in 1983.

I myself first saw Vince in 1983 at the Houston Astrodome. He was with Roseanne Cash ----- and GEORGE STRAIT opened for them! The only one I remember from that night was that little shy guitar player that Roseanne "showcased". HE WAS AWESOME, and I've been hooked on him since!

Sheesh...there was no hope for me 25 years ago.....MTV had just come out and I spent my freshman year of college watching videos of Flock of Seagulls and Duran Duran, and some other band I can't remember the name of who ran around in tarzan suits swinging from vines. I think there were only three different videos on MTV back then....No Palomino Club for me and Roseanne Cash was not on MTV...I lived in a cultural wasteland....Except for one person...my boyfriend who took me to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers that year....he's still with me (we finally got married!) and he's the guy who took me to see Vince last year....I am glad you guys have had a long history of fandom with Vince, that is so cool. As for me, better late than never!

Dawn,Who are those people you mentioned ? biggrin.gif Just kidding . Well, at least you converted to the best .

Anna I don't even know why I remember those bands!!!! A Flock of Seagulls??? What is wrong with my brain!

I do have some good stuff back there too, amid the junk....my dad the accordian player, loved the Everly Brothers and I have them stuck in my brain too. My dad would have loved Vince. Too bad he never got to meet him or his music.

Funny you should mention A Flock of Seagulls as two of my best friends are the drummer & bass player in that band now! I just saw them at the House of Blues Anaheim/Hollywood this past Fri. & Sat. I played psuedo roadie for them!

Reggie you have got to be kidding! Do they still have that funky hair like the wings of a seagull? I can't believe you are friends with them! I can't believe they are still together! Are your friends the original guys, the dudes I watched on MTV?

The only original member is Mike Score the lead singer. He always wears a baseball cap because the hair on top is gone. He has long hair in back which he keeps in a ponytail & hangs out of the back of his cap. My friends have only been with AFOS for the last two years. I have some pictures of a show I was at on Halloween 2006 @ The Greek Theatre in L.A. on my myspace page. They are all dressed up for Haloween but there are a few cool pictures. You have to log in but here is the link to all my pictures. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?...iendID=46322720
