Cathy are you from around Paducah? I live about 25 miles from Paducah, I saw that about Marie Osmond. I am trying to get John Berry to do a Christmas show at the Carson Center. So far no luck. I sent him another email, trying again. John does an awesome Christmas concert. I think I have been to about three in Jackson, Tn of John's . I would like to see a Vince Christmas.

Wouldn't ya know that now that we're not in S. FL anymore, the Christmas tours are playing there...Marie will be in Sunrise and several other FL cities, but not in TX. tongue.gif

Off the subject but if you live near Paducah have you ever been in to the Hancocks of Paducah fabric shop? It must be huge, my daughter and I order (email) stuff from them all the time for making quilts. We don't have a comparable store here. They aren't part of the national chain - just a one-store outfit. And does anyone else on the board make quilts?? smile.gif

No , I live in Nashville. biggrin.gif

I'm sure the show would be well worth seeing. I always loved Donny and Marie. It would be cool if he showed for a duet. They are so professional and extremely talented. Donny's concerts are awesome.

I have been in there a time or two. It is pretty big. I do not sew, so wasn't too excited to be there. I went with someone else. I have not been there in years. Paducah is real big in to the quilting thing. They have a Quilters Convention each year and the town gets flooded with quilters from all over the US. There is a quilt museum there. I have not been, but lots of people I know have. Paducah is a nice town

Thanks - it's interesting to "meet" so many of you from other parts of the world than where I live! I wonder if we have fans from all the states as well as provinces of Canada? Vince is the right artist to bring so many of us together on his site. biggrin.gif

That would be neat to find out, Freida! I know we have TX, FL, NJ, PA, NY, Maine, TN, KY, AL, OH, CA, NV, and WA covered. I also know of fans from IL, GA (if she's still there), OR (again, if she's still there), Arizona, NM, and Mass, although they might not post on the MB. I also know of a fan in Hong Kong...

Freida,

I have made a couple of quilts. I have been doing some kind of craft, it seems, like forever. Cross stitch is one of my favorites, but I'm getting old enough that those little squares are a little hard to see. unsure.gif I can still do it, but it's not as easy. I have two charts for Picasso prints, "Dove of Peace", and "Bouquet of Hands", one of my favorites, and I am determined to make them sometime. Right now scrapbooking is where my time and lots of my money go. "LOL".

I made one quilt on the sewing machine, and it is still in good shape. It's everyone choice for sleeping. I also did one that I pieced on my machine, and hand quilted. It's between a crib and a twin size. I love it. There's just something about the way a hand quilted quilt feels. We live a couple of hours from Lancaster, and I love to see the quilts when we are there. I'll have to check out the Paducah Hancock fabric website.

I've made lots of quilts since I retired in '94. Most family members get one on a special occasion like graduating from college or getting married but I send all but small ones out to be machine quilted. My daughter that lives near us is the recipient of many that I just wanted to make because I liked some fabric or pattern. She loves them. I don't do hand work - carpal tunnel surgeries on both wrists and elbow surgery. My machine also embroiders and that is fun to put on quilts. Shows of quilts are fabulous. I was quite surprised to find out antique quilts are quite pricey - my mother made one in the 30's which I have and it is exquisite. It is all hand pieced and quilted.
