Pam Dalton
I'm reading a book called Lifeguard by James Patterson. It is a murder mystery, my favorite type of book. And before that I read a series of 4 books by the same author which was fun. The main person was a woman cop who started a womans [club] with her best friends as they discussed the crimes and worked out how to solve them.

I'll probably be needing to buy a new book this weekend, any suggestions anyone??

Seems like I only have time to read during the summer- make my weekly visits to the library. Am reading John Saul's(been reading him since high school when his first book came out) latest- "In the Dark of the Night". Just finsihed new books by Diane Mott Davidson and Carolyn Hart.

Pam, I like James Patterson a lot, too. He's such a good writer, and full of suspense. You really have to pay attention to his stories sometimes to keep the whole thing straight in your head! I've also read some of the women's murder club books, but not all.

Has everyone read Nicholas Sparks' books? I really like him, and I recently read "Three Weeks with My Brother" which is a true story. It was a great book, and a very quick read. I just finished another book that my aunt gave me to read, but I can't remember the name of the author! It was pretty good--by a Christian author, and the first in a series. I checked the library to see if they had more...of course not!

I'm reading Clive Cussler & Dirk Cussler's Black Wind, A Dirk Pitt Novel but usually I read Danielle Steel and Nora Roberts also and almost any suspense story as long as it isn't Steven King - My hall bookcase is full of books I've read in the 8 years since we moved to present house - didn't bring any of old ones with us. But, I stopped today to make a couple of rhubarb/strawberry pies and need to get back to book before bedtime so I won't scare myself to stay awake! smile.gif

James Patterson is a favorite author of Bruce's. I've read one of his books..'Suzanne's Diary For Nicholas'...great book!!! It's different from his other mystery type books, just a great storyline..and bring out those tissues..you'll need them before you're thru with the book!!! I will be reading 'Sam's Letters to Jennifer' sometime in the future. Bruce has read all of James Patterson's books..well, all he knows about anyway!!!

Mary Higgins Clark is my favorite mystery author..but I definitely have to be in the mood to read her books...she has so many characters in her book that you really have to pay attention or you just get lost!!!

Mary, I absolutely love Nichols Sparks...and Richard Paul Evans too!!! I haven't read 'Three Weeks With My Brother' yet, but we have it..Bruce has read it already...we buy all of Nicholas Sparks' books..and Richard Paul Evans (who wrote The Christmas Box series), has a new book coming out soon..I'm on his mailing list and he will be sending out clips of the new book soon..he wrote this book in memory of his Mother, who passed away recently. This new book sounds like it will top the best seller's list just as The Christmas Box series did years ago...

I have SO many books that I plan to read...I'm reading at a couple of books right now...'Widow of The South' (about Carrie McGavock, who lived at the Carnton Plantation in Franklin, TN during the Civil War)..and 'Marley & Me', about 'life & love with the world's worst dog'...Widow of the South is sad, but good...so I'm balancing that out with the Marley book...one day, maybe I'll finish both of them!!!

Did anyone else read the entire 'Left Behind' series??? I've read all but the last 2 books, I think...Bruce has (of course), read all of them too!!! Excellent books!!!

Love this topic!!! Thanks for starting it, Carrie!!!

I am always reading something. I love James Patterson's mysteries. I've read almost everything Nicholas Sparks has written too. I can't remember all the authors names, but I usually pick mysteries, crime/lawyer books.

But my very favorite books right now are by Debbie Macomber. If you get the chance to read some of her books I think you'll get hooked too.

Some of the titles are: The Shop On Blossom Street, Savannah's Garden, 16 Lighthouse Road, 204 Rosewood Lane, 311 Pelican Court,
44 Cranberry Point and 50 Harbor Street.

The last 5 books with street names are continous stories starting with 16 Lighthouse Road. These books tell of the women and their families living in Cedar Cove, Washington.

Publishers Weekly on 16 Lighthouse Road: "Macomber is known for her honest portrayals of ordinary women in small-town America, and this tale cements her position as an icon of the genre."

She has her own website if you are interested in finding out more.

Carolyn, I read the Shop on Blossom Street and really liked that story. I have the second book to that, but haven't read it yet. That will probably be next! I'll have to check out her other books, too. THey sound good! I'll have to check out the website.

I checked the other book and it was called "Love Comes Softly" by Jeanette Oke. It's pretty good, and the first in a set of 8 or so. I'd like to find the others and read them. The first book starts with the man and woman, how they are married for convenience sake to care for the man's toddler daugher and the woman is pregnant. They marry because both of their respective spouses have died suddenly and tragically. Then, of course, over time they grow to like and even love each other. The series goes until they are very old in the last book.

Anyone ever read anything by Homer Hickam? He wrote the books that "October Sky" (the movie) were based on. They are mostly about a small mining town in West Virginia and life as the son of a coal miner. They are very interesting! He's also got some newer ones out, but I haven't gotten to read those, either. Soon, I'll be knee deep in fourth grade literature, so my "pleasure reading season" will be on hold for a bit!!

Carrie Ann, My daughter who lives here is a Stephen King fan big time. She has all his books that she can find.

It's hard for me to read so I have started getting the audio books. It's kind of different. Takes some getting used to. I think the DaVinci Code was not the best choice to start with audio.
