I cannot let it go by without a mention of the Olympics and the great Michael Phelps. I have been staying up way past my bedtime just to watch and cheer. Also so happy for Dara Torres and how she has done. Next week I will be there watching too but maybe not quite as many events. Our son was on the swim team when he was in high school so really like to watch all the swimming. Cannot go without a mention of our gymnastic girls either as that was so close and exciting to watch.
Hope some of you have watched and cheered for the USA.

I've been staying up way past my bedtime too. What about the surprsing men's team taking the bronze in gymnastics? That was so great.

I have to admit that I thought with both Hamm's out of it they didnt have a chance to medal at all so did not stay up for it. Now this week I really like the diving but will watch other things too. I have always watched the Olympics and marvel at what they can do.
I will be watching this week.

I have been watching too. You can't help but get emotional watching Michael Phelps, and his mom and sisters in the stands. What a great time for them. I also like the gymnastics, it's incredible what those athletes can do, and to realize that they practice practically all of their lives to finally get to the Olympics would be thrilling for them. The one girl on the US team who had her father there as a coach, and he had won a gold medal back in his day was sweet. I was hoping they would let him present her with the gold medal when she won the all around.

I've been watching for the most part. Tried to even catch as much as I could while on vacation. Even stayed up until 4am to catch the late show Wednesday night so I could see the Balance Beam and high bar event finals. Was thrilled when the men's gymnastics team won the bronze and the girls won the silver...but thought it was horrible when the Chinese girl fell on her second vault and *still* won the bronze over Alicia Sacramone. Also thought the scoring on the uneven bars was very unfair. Nastia Liukin (she's the one who's coach is also her father) should have *won* that event but because of that rediculous tie-breaker, she came in second.
Did you guys hear that the FIG (International Gymnastics Federation) is investigating the Chinese girls ages...it has been reported that some of them are underage....13 or 14 years old...if it's proved that they are underage, the Chinese could lose it's team gold medal, and the medals could be taken away from the girls who are underage who won individual medals, and that would include the girl who beat Nastia Liukin on the uneven bars.
