Hi everyone,
I just wanted to post a quick review of the 2 days at Casino Rama. It was lots of FUN,FUN,FUN and LOTS and LOTS of Vince sightings, as well as band members
Vince was in an exceptionally great mood and boy does he look fantastic He told me that he has lost 30 lbs and has 20 more to go.
He didn't play anything new at all. He told Leah that the band still has to learn all the music. He did talk about the new cd at the shows and when it was coming out and that it would cost $29.00, if I remember correctly.
I don't remember everything he sang but did all the Hits, so to speak, of course to me they are all hits. He did Oklahoma Dust and It's Hard to Kiss the Lips, of the NCB cd. He did Jenny Dreamed of Trains, per someone's request. He sounded spectacular and so did the band. He has a new fiddle player and I can't remember her name. On Friday Leah and I were out by the pool and a few minutes later out comes John Hobbs, forgive me but I am really tired and can't remember his name but the drummer and Vince came out and sat a couple of chairs over from us. A lady came over to them and complimented them and then came to Leah and I and asked if we were part of the band! Leah responded by saying she was the fiddle player and I said I was doing background vocals LOL!!! We of course told her we weren't and she said that she just assumed that we were with them since we were all sitting together. On the way back up from sitting at the pool we were in the elevator with John Hobbs and chatted. He is such a nice man and very greatful for his career.
I have a few pictures from the meet and greet that I will post a link to in the next day or so. There are not many pictures. There are zero from the concert as they are VERY, VERY strict there about taking pictures.
Leah has at least one great story to share and I will let her share that one with all of you.
The other highlight and this is always special to me is meeting new friends and seeing old friends. I got to meet Kathy Loratzen and we had dinner together along with Leah and her mother and cousin. I was also able to see Nina and her husband Troy after Friday night's concert.

Vince was HOT......HOT oh and did I say HOT.......lol.....He wore jeans, white shirt and a gray jacket....

He looks great......He sang perfectly......They lost sound at one point and it was so funny he started shaking his butt on the stage....Cute very cute...

He was his funny self....Making funny comments,....Of course threatening to sue because of sexual harrassement....He said even if it was Canada he could sue her a$$.....lol.....

During the show, he started talking about how come he sang so high, he said he lived in a great house because he sang high....And the reason why was because when he was young his brother hit him in the crotch with a hockey puck....We were laughing hysterically and he said I can't believe I shared that with you all.....

Funny side bits.....He was doing of him at the casino and an old lady walking up to him, (he's pretending to smoke with that raspy smokers voice of an old lady) Saying....You have my nickel machine...Ok lady....It was funny....

So many funny moments....I wonder which one of you was the not so funny lady in the second row making all the comments to him...screaming to him all the time...

I had great seats....Enjoyed it very much....He sang a little bit shy of 2 hours

Thanks for the reviews Laura and Charlene! Sounds like y'all had a great time and Vince was in his usual witty fine form...LOL. Laura, did you and Leah have to put on suntan lotion to keep from burning from the HEAT of Vince so nearby?? It's so cool the way he's just so normal and the chances of him sitting down next to any of us anywhere is a hoot!

By the way, don't know how he does it, and he does it all the time when he's on the road....but he was back in Nashville this evening looking so hot in white tie and tails with Amy at the gala opening concert of our new Nashville Symphony hall. Does this man ever get any sleep? Amy looked beautiful with her hair up and wearing a white gown with black highlights. Garth and Trisha were there also.

Ok....after not sleeping at all last night (something I haven't doen in a very long time) I am finally here and ready to share my stories...lol

We had such a GREAT time and I don't think it could have been any better. When my mom and I checked in we went out to the pool area and there was Vince sitting in the sun. I was very hesitant about approaching him but finally went up and said hi. I said that I had seen him at the lunch and then right away he remembered me. We talked for a bit about the new cd and amy and the kids and I introduced him to my mom. I asked if he would do me a big favor and leave a message for my boys on our home phone because they were dissapointed they couldn't come to the show because you had to be 19 and over. He said absolutely and left them a great long winded message starting with...."HI austin and andrew...this is Vince Gill...now GO CLEAN YOUR ROOM!! lol He said that he had heard they might be going to Predator camp next year and that they would have the best time. He said that hopefully he could stop playing the Casino gigs so that they could get out to a show soon and that they should be good so that i would take them to a show. " It is such a cute message and we have listened to it several times.
After that Vince joked around with my mom and I and I left him alone. We went to the concert and it was just fabulous. We talked to him a little more that night and he teased my mom about not wearing her pink cowboy hat...lol
The next morning my mom had a pedicure for 11am so laura and I went and sat outside by the pool (the weather was just perfect). Well we weren't there for 1o minutes when out came Vince, Billy and John Hobbs. They said hi to us and we talked a bit and then they took seats next to us and we all sunned for awhile. I joked around with Vince and said that only in Canada would I run into Vince Gill at the pool while I was wearing a bathing suit, hat and no makeup....he laughed. I told John that I had never seen such a group of people that just loved what they did so much and showed it in every performance. He talked about how much he loved what he did and that they really had a great time. The guys are all so great.
We had a great dinner that night and Kathy Lorentzen, laura and I caught up and were just like old friends that had known each other for years and years (it was great)
That night we were in the 2nd row center and wouldn't you know it....I had the biggest heckler (the one charlene was referrring to) sitting beside me. She threw crude comments at Vince all night and I was just mortified because here he was looking at me and probably thinking she was with me. I made sure to clear up later that I had nothing to do with her...lol
You could tell he was not impressed by her comments and I had to get rick to sit in between us because she was driving me crazy.
After the show we got to see Nina and Troy for a bit (such great people)
and then our group went to the bar and sat around and talked for hours. We saw Vince and the band leave as they wanted to get back to Nashville for saturday afternoon. Benny was left behind as he lives in Oklahoma and was flying home in the morning. He was alone at the bar and after talking to him for a bit he joined us all for a few drinks. He is such a great guy and I am so happy that I got the chance to actually talk to him for awhile. He has great stories and you can tell that he really has Vince's back just like Vince does with him. We went into the Casino for a bit and Benny met up with dez and I again.
It was just such a great time with great memories and I am so glad I got to share it with not only some really great friends but with my family as well, It looks like we have a lot more Vince fans among us so that is a good thing...lol
It always amazes me how this fan club really brings people together and lasting friendships are formed.

By the way....Vince looked the best I have seen him in years...but you should also see laura....man does she look great!!!

Leah, what a unbelievable two days you had! Vince is so down to earth! I love that he made messages for your kids without even hesitating and getting to hang out with him at the pool and visit with Benny and John, was all just a whirlwind I'm sure! Vince treats his fans like friends and it's so nice that he feels comfortable around us and doesn't run in the other direction. He's at the top of his game, musically, physically, and spiritually and I pray that the new box set wins over brand new fans to the fold.

Not really, I loved it you all had such a great time. That guy is the coolest ever and he surrounds himself withsuch nice good real people. I just love it.

Don't you hate it when someone acts like that woman ? I am surprised Vince didn't say something. He has been known to if there is diruption. Such a good guy. Love him.

Thanks girls...I am glad to share every detail with you. I know that I lvoe hearing everyone else's reviews so much and it does make you feel like you are there.
As for the lady in the audience....Vince did through some comments right back at her and even told here he was going to come down there and attack her if she didn't stop (I said I would do it for him...lol) well of course she just fed off of his comments and kept coming back with more. He said she she should be in last comic standing and he would fly her out himself. It was really too bad that she kept at it because he really shut down and just sang after that not giving her the opportunity to go on and on. On Thursday night he talked alot more and shared alot of great stories with the audience.
I will share more if I think of anything else that I have forgotten.
Oh yeah....Vince actually got to Rama on Wednesday and performed a concert for the employees of Casino Rama. Several people told us about it and it sounds like everyone really enjoyed it alot.
Vince didn't play golf while here....it sounds like he is all golfed out for awhile(I was suprised at that).

Wow!!! Laura, Leah & Charlene...thanks so VERY, VERY MUCH for your wonderful reviews!!! Sounds like some lovely evenings were going on lately at Rama!!!

Seems like to me that the venue would do something about someone heckling the performer so badly...but alas we know that Vince can take care of himself...still, hate to see someone do that and ruin the rest of the concert for everyone else...but can't blame Vince for not giving her an opportunity to say anything else...

Leah..that's so neat that Vince left a message for Austin and Andrew!!! I know that they must have been thrilled by the message when they heard it!!! Maybe you guys can bring the boys back to Nashville next year for fan fair...especially if Vince decides to have a fan club party this year...we're planning to bring Maegan next year...and I know she would enjoy meeting a few new buddies around her age!!!

Once again...thanks to everyone for your lovely reviews of the Rama concerts!!! Feels like I was there myself!!! And makes me wish I really had been...maybe next time!!!

We should be seeing Amy & Vince in Hollywood in just a little over a week...we've decided to fly out there to see Amy finally get her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame...and I just can't see that happening without Vince being by her side!!! Hopefully, we'll have lots of pictures of the event to share once we return...we'll leave next Saturday and return the following Wednesday...it's an anniversary trip for us...Bruce & I will be celebrating our 18th anniversary on 9/17!!! Great way to celebrate, huh??? We'll also be going to a Reba show taping on Tuesday evening and a big magic show at the Kodak theater on Sunday evening..so, should be a really fun trip!!!

Oh my....I wasn't sure who that lady was with, thats why I didn't say too much about her, because I didn't want to insult anyone...But now I know...I would have died if she sat next to me....I most likely would have said something....lol...

lol....But Vince did say he was going to have to kick someones a$$ in the second row.....(his words not mine)......He also said....Excuse me, while I pick this piece of skin off my lip....lol....Then he said oh yeah that lady will have it on ebay tonight.....I was dying laughing....

They were a little toooo strict with the no camera....

But then they would let people go to the stage during the encore...hmmmm...My seat was good enough I didn't need to do that..

Wow, what great reviews! Thanks so much for sharing the wonderful time all of you had with Vince and oh yeah, the concert. LOL I can't wait to see him in Charlotte, but I'm sure there won't be any sightings like you girls had. I'm like Anna, I'm jealous!!!!!

Yep, I can't wait for the Mobile and Duluth shows...and then the Vegas shows!!! The band better get busy learning the new songs!!!! LOL!!! I know they'll be ready and it will sound fantastic...!!!

Wow! What great reviews and thanks for sharing. I'm getting excited about seeing him this year. I am kind of glad that he is still singing some of the "older" songs. I hope he plays some new ones too but I LOVE his older things. I am sure I will love his new CD too, no I'm not sure I KNOW I will.

It sounds like you all had a great time, and Vince provided a wonderful weekend for everyone. I can't wait to see him in October. I don't mind if he sings some of his older songs either. I know I'll enjoy the concert whatever he sings.

ugh! I hate it when you are sooo excited to see someone, like Vince play. You shell out the big bucks and some creep spoils the show by heckling or shouting out. I sat next to a couple of drunk girls a few years back at the Tacoma Dome. I almost remember them more than I remember the show. You guys handled it a lot better than I would have! Thanks for the grrrreat reviews. I'm getting itchy for my show!

Those are just wonderful and exciting reviews of your evenings with Vince! That is thrilling for all of you, and certainly makes the rest of us anxious for when we might be able to go to a concert. Thanks very much for the vivid descriptions, glad you all had great experiences!!

Oh man.... I am sooo envious... sounds like just the FIRST of many fabulous concerts and I too am so grateful for the fabulous reviews and the wonderful details of all the VG (& band members) sightings!! Thanks for all your wonderful reviews! For future reference - when Vince is singing in a casino all you have to do is walk to the nearest guard and complain and they hustle the troublemaker out of concert - saw it happen in the showroom at Caesar's in Vegas. We loved it!

I am so glad I've not encountered anything like that but it would make me pretty upset . I did hear that one time when Vince was here in Phoenix there were a couple of women disrupting and they finally got up (maybe to go to the bathroom) and it was said that Vince said as they got up to go......................You might as well leave you've talked through my whole show.
There was another comment that I won't put here.

I heard this from one of the DJ'S over the radio . Can't believe the nerve of some people

I've been to one Vince concert when he had a heckler and it was SO embarrassing and distracting and annoying. Makes you wonder why someone would go to a concert just to holler at the artist for the entire time they are performing??? I just don't get what they get out of doing that.. Are they starved for attention or something??? I remember wanting to slink down underneath the seat when this happened..can't remember where it was, but I sure was wishing that I could have found a large piece of tape to slap over the person's mouth...I remember Vince doing the same thing then that you all said he did in Rama..he let it go on for a little while and interacted with the person, then when it became obvious that they were not going to quit no matter what, he just gave up and sang and didn't talk much after that...I was so aggrivated at that person for making Vince shutdown like that, but I totally understand how Vince must have felt about it...I think he just gave up and wanted to get thru the rest of his setlist and be done with the concert...it's sad that 1 person being ugly can ruin the entire concert for everyone else..and Vince...I personally think that the venue should throw out the hecklers...before they ruin the concert for the rest of us...
