I don't think any of us will ever forget what we were doing that day. It brings tears to my eyes just writing this. All of the love one's that were lost. And all the people that tryed to help them. And feeling help less.

Was watching Dateline last night, and the first hour they spent talking to the air traffic controlers who were on duty that day and what it was like for them to watch those planes fly into the towers. They said that when the first one hit, they knew it wasn't an accident, like everyone thought it might be at first, but they kept hoping that it *was* an accident...then when they saw the second one take a steep dive and head right for the second tower, they knew we were under attack...and that's when they called FAA Headquarters and had them close down the entire airspace ASAP. What had to be the saddest part of the story was that one of the air traffic controllers had just dropped his wife off at the airport before going in to work....his wife was on one of the doomed flights...and his co-workers had to break the news to him.

I watched part of Dateline too but was like one woman they interviewed I just didn't want to hear any more. She was talking about the plane that went down in PA. It's a sad thing and a day we will never forget.

Seems like that all happened a month ago, doesn't it? I can't stand to watch any news on it. It was too traumatic during it --- I don't need a recap. I certainly won't see the movie, with the "fiction" added to it. I suppose more heart-wrenching stuff was added to that to make a buck. No thanks - that's not for me. The whole history of the tragedy will remain with me forever. Too many lives have been lost even SINCE that day trying to get to do the bottom of it all! Our troops are in harms way because of it. SAD ---- tomorrow will be a very sad day for us all.

I didn't watch either of the movies either, but did watch 60 Minutes tonight...again it was about 9/11, and even though it did show some footage from that day, it focused on the health problems that resulted from that day and in the days after, and after that segment they focused on the children of 9/11, talking to some of the children who are now teenagers and their feelings about that day. Several of them said that they don't want to focus on the past, and that it hurts the most when the media replays the footage of that day. One girl who's father was a pilot on one of the doomed planes is now taking flying lessons, as is one of the boys. She said that she feels closer to her father when she's in the air.

Well, the site where the twin towers were is still a very sad place...we visited the site on our trip to NYC back in the summer..and even tho it has been 6 years, it is still just a huge whole in the ground...it's heart-wrenching to look at it and remember what happened there. About the only thing that you can see there is looking down into the area, you can see a subway train go by every once in a while. I would like to go back to see the memorial once they finish it.

I think we'll all remember where we were from now on as if it happened yesterday. I can't believe it's been 5 years ago either!

I got a very nice rememberance from Suzanne. I have been sending it on and asking them to sign it.I would like to see if it gets back to me . Can't put the pictures on but below is the card
Dear Friends
On this sad day we are all united no matter which part of the western world we are living in.
Most people can remember where they were that day 5 years ago and what a shock it was to watch the news.
It was like watching a "bad" movie. We couldn't believe what we saw.
But it was for real and our world will never be the same.
I like to Thank you for being such good friends to me and treasure each and everyone of you with all my heart.
Many hugs and much love
Susanne

Thank you Shirl for passing it on .I'm sure no one has forgotten but I believe this is one thing along with the assassinations of the Kennedy that should never be forgotten. We are all vulnerable. Let's just pray that nothing like that would ever happen again any where.
I watched some of the Katie Couric interviews with some of the people who are ill and having so many problems getting help for their medical problems. Breathing in all that material. They said they won't even know how long people will be suffering from the effects of that day .That is to say nothing of the loss that so many families had. It breaks my heart every time I think about it.

The line in AJ's "Wherre Were You" that says "were yiou teaching a class full of innocent children" really hits home for me because that's exactly what I was doing. We had a special prayer ceremony outside around the flag pole today- and a "Red, White, and Blue" Spirit Day in memory of 9/11. One of the fathers in our school( I have his little boy this year) was in one of the towers, but luckily made it to safety. My stepbrother was also in the second tower and made it out- he disregarded the "recording" that said all was well and for everyone to go back to work.

The kids at Maegan's school also were asked to wear red, white and blue today in honor of the tragedy of 9/11...Maegan trotted off in her USA shirt this morning.
I've been watching the news some today...saw Mr. President out in Shanksville, PA for the memorial there and heard he will be speaking on tv later on this evening.
What a sad day of remembering...alot has happened since that day, but I'm sure that it's a day none of us will ever forget...
Mary Anne, since you live in the area, I was wondering if you knew when they were going to get started on the twin towers memorial park???

I think they're still debating exactly what the memorial will look like Becky- haven't heard when they plan to "break ground" on it yet.

Thanks Mary Anne...I never heard if they had made a decision about the plans for the memorial either. It will be nice to have a memorial there, tho...it's such a vast empty hole right now...it's just sad to look at...

That day is like Pearl Harbor - I can't go back to that memorial without shedding many tears and 9/11 is also seared into our minds, hearts and eyes. I just can't watch any movies or information about it yet - it's just too traumatic. We were on a trip to California and our daughter here was absolutely frantic to get ahold of us and confirm that we were ok. God will have a special place in hell for those murderers and a special place in heaven for all the heros and unfortunate families that suffer yet from that awful day. I can't fathom why so many muslims hate us.
