In July, my sweet little niece was married. She was so sad that her cousin, Derek could not attend the wedding. All of the cousins are so close! As many know, Derek is in Iraq. Anyway, during the wedding ceremony, the minister mentioned that many loved ones could not attend the wedding. A screen lowered from the ceiling of the church, while the bride and groom were standing at the alter, and Toby's song, "American Soldier" began to play. The bride had put together a film strip of Derek in uniform, and of one of her bridesmaid, who in in the Navy, and was standing with the bride that day. The film strip was absolutely so touching! There was not a dry eye in the place. When Derek was shown in many of the photos that she had of him while he's in Iraq, it was like he was there at the wedding with us. Then, the film strip showed all of the generations of sailors/soldiers in the bride's and groom's family. Photos of my deceased Dad when he served in the Navy back in the 40's was shown. That was the most touching thing I have EVER seen at a wedding ceremony. It was such a wonderful tribute to our military!
I was so proud of my niece for turning the attention to our TROOPS, on a day that should have been strictly for HER. GOD bless her! It was so sweet, and the community is still talking about how they cried during Toby's song and the video that was shown at that wedding. IT WAS AWESOME!!!! I think Toby Keith himself would have cried watching it!!!!
Please keep Derek in your prayers, as well as all of the other troops. NONE of them are safe these days!!!!
