We attended the amazing concert in Monterey, Ca. on Oct. 30. It was very much as others had described, but, honestly, you had to be there.
The show lasted 2 1/2 hours plus two wonderful encores. Vince and group thrilled a sold out audience on a rainy night with song, tales, and great humor.
I have seen many of his concerts, but, never had the privelege of hearing Colder than Winter performed. What a wonderful but sad piece of music. Vince, said that it was written in a very sad part of his life. I had heard that a prior concert before this tour that he had declined to play it.
He told funny stories about playing golf at Pebble Beach, having his Father come west to see him play and how hard it was not to be able to play while here. (Knee surgery) Someone in the audience yelled out, "What is your index?" Vince said, " Zero". Then mumbled that he wasn't a zero that was his golf index. I am sure the audience knew what he meant but he just laughed at being a zero.
What an evening! Everyone in attendance seemed to be on cloud 9 after the show............if you have a chance go see this marvelous entertainer.

It sounds like your show in Monterey was the same as the show I saw in Santa Rosa. I had actually requested "Colder Than Winter" because I was sitting in the front row and I never heard him sing it live before. What a thrill that was - gives me major goosebumps! He acknowledged me and nodded his head and he said Thanks for knowing it. What an awesome tour he is doing, I couldn't have asked for more! It has been the highlight of my year! Way to go Vince!

I was also at the Monterey show on October 30th. I have seen him many times and each show I see is different than the last but just as much if not more satisfying. Seeing him in these intimate settings really gives the audience a sense of "knowing" him a bit more. His show in Monterey was wonderful, playing a great mix of old and new. Even a couple of new ones that we hadn't heard yet. The song "Bread and Water" he wrote about his brother gave me chills, and of course "Buttermilk John" was amazing too as a wonderful tribute to his late band member. I was also fortunate enough to have a meet and greet which ended up happening after the show. He was very gracious and took his time with each guest even though his knee is still giving him trouble. When it was my turn to "greet" him, I said "Hi Vince" and he said "Hi Sweetie".....he just makes me melt. I'm sure this won't be my last Vince concert. I've flown across the country to see him before but it sure was nice to have him in my own backyard!

Thanks Stevie B.

Not as good as hearing it live, but still good.

Maybe someday....maybe someday I'll really get to hear him sing it live...

In the meantime youtube will do.

Isn't that just an awesome song?
