Friday night I had the good fortune of going to an awesome concert---Sonny Landreth. He just blows me away. I picked up his new CD there "From the Reach" and on the way home I had a pleasant suprise....Vince is on at least three tracks: guitar and vocals on "The Goin' On" and background vocals on "Blue Angel" and "Universe".
I was introduced to Sonny at the Crossroads festival summer of 2007. Wow. I won't miss his concerts now if I have the opportunity to go. We had front row for that and I was almost in the front row on Friday. I was behind some woman who kept shouting out "SONNY MY MAN" over and over and over again....gosh was that funny. It was kind of like reliving a small portion of the Crossroads concert (in a much smaller venue). Sonny was great both times.
This was the first concert I made it to since my mom died. I missed Vince and Rodney Crowell. I did go to Alan Jackson, but I actually fell asleep, so I can't count that I actually went to that concert. If Alan knew it was the evening after we buried my Mom in the morning, he would forgive me. Sonny was perfect to blast my ears open to, and start to get back into the swing of things, er---swing into the new version of my life.
Can't wait to listen to that new CD again....

I also got this CD. The reviews were all very good, stating that Sonny invited "the greatest guitar players on the planet" to play on this project. Great CD.

Not trying to be rude, but Alan Jackson has put many people to sleep as a performer. Great song writer but as a performer I've seen statues move more than him.

Reggie, it wasn't Alan...it was me. Bad timing in my life. Now Sonny, he was just awesome live....and I love listening to the CD. It just gets better everytime I listen. It is a bonus that Vince and all those great musicians play with him.

I saw Alan in concert once, and he wasn't bad...true he didn't move around a whole lot, but I can't say that he was boring...maybe because it was all his uptempo songs that he has. Now Randy Travis, we saw him once, and, well, to make matters worse, we weren't in a good mood in the first place because Ticketmaster screwed up our tickets and instead of giving us 3 tickets, we only got 2, and by the time TM 'fixed' their mistake, we were up in the balcony after originally getting floor seats! But IMO, Randy Travis did a boring show...of course like I said, it probably also had something to do with being up in the balcony and then also not being able to take pics since my father had a 'professional' type camera with him...so I wasn't in a good mood to begin with for that show!
