It's bad enough that the Tennessean didn't feel the need to review these concerts. I'm sure everybody has gotten home by now. Let's have some comments about these concerts. Those of us who couldn't go want to know about them.

Sorry.....
I just got home late last night.....but now I am ready to write!!
I went to the shows Thursday and Friday....both of which were excellent. The first night I had seats on the floor, toward the back. The center was beautiful and I could see great from my seat!! The symphony opened the show with four numbers, then an intermission....and then out came Vince!! He sounded AMAZING with the symphony!! He did mostly slower ballards and jazzy songs. He said he wasn't going to be jammin' on the guitar. He was funny, and charming as usual!! He joked about not getting the memo that he needed to wear a white jacket like the symphony and the conductor!! He said a man his size should never wear white!! He is such a crack up!! So....after the show I got a set list from Benny!! Vince played 11 songs....
I Still Believe in You
Never Knew Lonely
If You Ever Had Forever In Mind
When Love Finds You
Faint of Heart
This Memory of You
Whenever you Come Around
True Love Ways (A Buddy Holly Song.....I wish he would record this it was SOOO GOOD)
Go Rest High
And then he came back for an encore with Heaven (just him and his guitar) and Give me Jesus

The show was amazing!! He told a couple of funny stories about him singing at weddings!! He had us all cracking up!! On the second night, he sang the same songs, except he added a piece of "Amie" from Pure Prairie League. It was funny....a lady had yelled out to him something about loving that song and that she wanted him to sing it. He joked with her a bit and told her he was a little busy, but maybe later. When he came out for the encore he started singing a piece of it!! Afterward everyone lauged and cheered!! He said he did not want anyone leaving mad!! He also got us laughing with his impersonation of Sonny from Sonny and Cher and his impersonation of the governor from Illinois!!

Overall, I can sum it up with saying that both nights I attended were AMAZING!! The way he Sang "If you Ever Had Forever In Mind" with that symphony is one of the greatest things I have ever heard!! Vince is awesome and these concerts just again proved how talented he is!! Me and my husband feel so blessed to have been in that audience!! It was totally worth the trip from California!!!
Thanks to Vince was a wonderful night!! Those memories will last a life time!! I had a blast!!

I got back today. I went to the Thursday and Friday night concerts too. Vince sounded fantastic with an orchestra backing and his choice of songs was spot on. It was apparent that he was enjoying himself and that the invitation to sing there meant so much to him. He sang the Buddy Holly song with such reverence and sounded so beautiful. Well worth the trip from the UK !!!

Thanks for the reviews. I'm glad the concerts went so well. It's hard to believe that people who live in the Nashville area didn't go to these concerts. If I lived in the Nashville area I would have gone.

Could anyone tell if it looked like Vince's back was bothering him?

My husband and I attended the Saturday night concert, and it was awesome! Set list was the same as listed above, it is just hard to describe how wonderful Vince sounded with the orchestra. Dawn Sears and Jeff White were singing background. (John Hobbs, David Hungate, and Billy Thomas were also accompanying Vince.) It was just a fantastic listening experience. Listening to familiar VG songs was amazing, but when he sang True Love Ways...it was just fabulous. There just aren't enough adjectives to describe the sound!!!
It wasn't the typical VG concert, as he said..."no crying in your beer songs" and I did miss the "rock and roll" aspect of his songs, but I am in no way complaining!!!!
When we saw Vince in Sept in Cincinnati, his back was bothering him something awful and he was recovering from the knee surgery, and it was obvious he was uncomfortable and in pain. While I did not get to see him up close and personal on Saturday night...it did appear that he was doing much better. His posture was relaxed and there was not a limp when he entered or exited the stage. He seemed very relaxed and even though it was the 3rd straight night of the engagement, Vince was fresh and appeared to highly enjoy himself.
The Schermerhorn Center is a truly amazing place, and if you ever get the chance to hear anyone there...I would recommend it. It is accoustically perfect. And the symphony is unequaled!

Thanks for the reviews, everyone! And I'm glad Vince is feeling better after what he went thru last year with all the pain he had. Wonder if maybe he consulted a chiropractor for his back problems? From what I read during the Christmas shows, it's very unlikely Vince's pain from the back problems could have gone away that quick, unless he's on some major pain meds or he had something done, like going to a chiropractor.

You all are so very lucky to have gone to Nashville to see Vince.I would love to go to grand ole opry to see Vince someday. It sounds like he was wonderful as usual. I received my pamphlet from American Music Theatre in Lancaster,Pa. and it says Vince is coming in 2009.That's all it says, no dates yet. I sure am excited. I live only an hour away from there.I just hope I can figure out how to get tickets from fanclub. I will let you know when dates become available. Love ya, xtalmae (Crystal)

Don't know that I can add too much to what has already been said...other than to say that the Thursday & Friday night concerts were awesome! And in all the years and in all the Vince concerts I've attended, I don't think he has ever sounded better!!!

Bruce got just a few pictures as the concert was ending on Friday night...they are posted on our website. If you don't already have the link, you it's on my profile page, or you can pm me and I'll be glad to share it with you. There's also pictures of the 12/22 Ryman Christmas show on there. Bruce will be adding some of the pictures that Maegan took at the Christmas show pretty soon, so check back!!!

Thanks ladies for the reviews, sounds like you all had a great time.
Good to hear Vince was feeling better and telling new jokes.
Would love to hear him sing the Buddy Holly song, he just turns every song into magic.

Wish I had been there....and being from Illinois, what did Vince say when he impersonated our governor? Too funny.
Becky
Dawn, all I can remember is that he did a hair impersonation. It was pretty funny!!!
