Full Version: Country Weekly subscription?
The Nineteenth Hole > The Nineteenth Hole > Off Topic

Hey all...I received a cover on my issue of Country Weekly that said this is the last issue that will be shipped. They are no longer offering home delivery, and I could get the next issue at a newsstand. The remainder of my subscription would be converted to Star, National Enquirer, or Shape magazine (my choice). I don't want ANY of those! Of course, I just renewed at Christmas, so I have until 3/2010. Ugh.

On a similar note, I purchased the last few People:Country issues. I saw a subscription tag in there and decided to order that, too. I filled out the info and sent in my check. A few weeks later, they sent me a letter saying there is not currently going to be a subscription for People Country, so they sent a refund check. Why did they bother to advertise it?

Im really disappointed in this, from both magazines....

The article I read a few weeks ago about Contry Weekly going to a newstand only issue said that if you didn't want any ot the magaines they offered you could get a refund. I'd request it right away.
JBC
That's what I'm planning to do. None of the above, please send me a refund. I don't want any of those magazines either. It's just a good thing I heard about this and didn't send in a renewal check.

I also have until 2010 on my CW subscription and don't want any of the other magazines. From what I read when they advertised that CW was going newsstand only, they said that refunds could be requested if you weren't interested in any of the other magazines. As for People Country, we also sent in a subscription form and got a letter back saying subscriptions weren't available at this time, but we didn't send in a payment, we asked to be billed later. There's a new issue of People Country on the newsstands now, so you might want to check out http://www.opry.com to see if there's a coupon there...they usually put a coupon on there that can be printed out for $1 off the magazine.

Ok, just went and checked the Opry's website and there's currently no coupon on there, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep checking back, especially since this is the weekend.

And one more thing...there's supposed to be pictures of Dierks Bentley holding his new baby in this issue of People Country. There was on on People's website a few days ago...don't know if it's still there or not, I'd have to go back and check.

Val,
There is a picture of Dierks Bentley with his new baby, and also his wife, who I seldom see pictures of in the new People Country. I bought that.

smile.gif hey vg fans has anybody heard any thing from cw yet? by e mails about yours guys subscribtion? I just want my money back the mags they show us are lousy choices don't you all agree with me? from carrie ann wink.gif
countrycrazy
I definately agree that they're lousy choices, Carrie...but those are the other magazines they publish. There is a phone number inside the issue on either the index page or the page with the Letters to the Editor...I think it's the Letters to the Editor page...and it's down at the bottom in small print. We're going to call that number and see if we can get our money back. If they won't give the money back, then the best option of those three is the Star.

smile.gif hey valier have u sent a e mails to country weekly yet? I sure they haven't e mails yet about see if we can get our money money or not we sure .I"am not crazy about getting them at the stores I have a hard time finding them the only places I can find them at the dollar stores mierjer or wal mart. our kroger don't carried them I ask some lady she act like she never heard of cw lol biggrin.gif how about there ? from carrie ann unsure.gif
JBC
I mailed in my postcard Thursday saying I didn't want any of the other magazines and to send me a refund. We'll see what happens. My subscription only runs until May so it won't be that much but it's the principle more than the money with me. I don't really think you'll get any email response, Carrie. The only place that carries CW out here is Walmart and I don't get there that much, only every 6 or 7 weeks, so I doubt I'll be getting very many CW's in the future.

Hi Vince Fans I called Country Weekley today. I ask them if I could have my money back and they gave it to me. Ask the lady I talked if not getting Country Weekley threw the mail will not be a permanent thing. They just doing it now because of the economy is so bad. She said whrn the Economy gets better they will stand sending them threw the mail again to. Here is the Number a deiled 1-877-566-5832 . The olay thing you have to do is give them your mailing address and they will give you your money back . You will get it back 3 to 4 weeks to. Thanks Mandy Hope this helps you. biggrin.gif
JBC
Sorry, Mandy, but I don't believe them about it being the economy. My opinion, I think they are trying to save money from sending out subscriptions and if that doesn't help, the magazine will fold. This is just a last ditch effort to save the magazine. All magazines were in trouble even before the bad economy hit. I suspect CW won't be around very much longer.

Hi JBC I think you are very very very wrong about Country Weekley . Don't you know the economy is really bad now and money tight. I don't Cw will quit anytime soon. Do not give up on them you where very rude to them. Mandy
countrycrazy
I have to agree with Joan...it's a last ditch effort to save the magazine from folding...there was a link to an article somewhere that basically said that's why they're going newsstand only... it's a last ditch effort to save the magazine and if it doesn't work, then the print version of the magazine will fold...don't know if they would go web only if the print version ceases, but that would be an option for them (and for us, too, for those who like to get our weekly/bi-weekly dose of country news).
JBC
Mandy, I'm sorry you didn't like what I wrote but it's the truth about magazines. I have had three different magazines that I subscribed to go out of business in the last two years. It has nothing to do with the magazine itself, people are getting their information on the internet and not waiting to see it in the magazine. I certainly don't want to lose any country music magazines but there's a reason why all these magazines are going out of business and it's not just the economy. I'm afraid they are just using that as an excuse.

Why do they call it "Country Weekly" when it's only out every other week? I didn't renew my subscription when they failed to give Vince the spread they gave George Strait for being inducted into the HoF.

I never did subscribe to that mag .I must admit to having bought it at the store but got really sick of the particiality it showed to a handful of artists .

Mandy
Joan.....I am sorry I was so rude to you in my post. The lady I talked to at Country Weekly was very nice, and I hope what she told me is true. Anyway, I shouldn't have talked to you like I did. It won't happen again.

Been subscribing to CW for years, my subscription doesn't expire til 2011. Upset I can't get it at home anymore, as Walmart is a 25 mile drive to get an issue. Bummer, I guess my days of reading CW and coveting every VG article/picture is a thing of the past. WITH that. I do have several copies of VG cover issues if anyone is missing one, I will gladly part with them, if you pay the shipping. Just let me know what you are looking for! Kirsten (lizajane1965)
