I just cannot understand why many of Vince's 'These Days' did not get into the top ten. Radio does not understand. They just keep playing George Strait.......which all sound alike and AJ.......which is still putting out good music.........but they ignore one of the best voices in Country Music. Very sad state of affairs.

I agree. Radio stations don't seem to rotate any of his songs unless it's thrown in during a 1hr morning, lunch, weekend, holiday or special recap. It is rare if even then for airplay of his songs. Mainstream commercialism or overcorrectness since the Nielson SoundScan era is another notch in the coffee table. Only here hit singles from albums between "When I Call Your Name" and "When Love Find You" and then only his #1's might only get played esp. one of my faves, "I Still Believe In You". Why not add some scuff marks too considering his last album the expansive "These Days" did not get the airplay it should have had not to mention other hits including the ones from his early years in the 80's (like Cinderella or Oklahoma Borderline). What you now have is a worn out coffe table of pet peeves from "well, Radio won't play Vince anymore because he sounds too high or old-fashioned". He's not the only artist (e.g. Ricky Van Shelton) and I doubt he will be the last to get snubb at "Country Radio" this decade and on. So now we just have to keep up the requests and spread the word even further than before when new singles arrive in the future, if any (hint to Vince, I can't get enough of your music). Other than that no hard feelings to Country Radio just more respect for Vince.

Country radio program directors control what is played . Vince hasn't gotten air play for his last 4 records. It's a shame that so much great music has gone unheard to so many people .
In my opinion country radio sucks .I don't even listen anymore.

I agree with you Anna. It's a shame for Vince that so many miss out on hearing his music. He's so darn talented.I wish radio would play him.A local station near me plays some of his older music.Never, ever hear his newer music!I'm so sick of hearing George Strait all the time and not our Vinny!Anna, have a great time at the fan club party!I'll be thinking of you.I go to see Vince on Tuesday in Lancaster and finally got a meet and greet!Going to write everything down that I want to ask him.I know that I'll lose my mind when I'm standing next to him!God Bless, Crystal p.s. hope you find a ticket for your guest!

It's true even for the legend's station that suppose tp lay oldies' country a lot but instead play more 80's and 90's like Reba and george and Alan Jackson and especially Alabama get overplayed and hardly but once in a day or awhile you will hear some 50's, 60's and 70's mostly from named artists like Dolly, patsy, Loretta, Haggard, and Jones but it also sounds more pop or urban country than traditional at times but not constant with all the dacades upto 90's. We need to hear more neo-trditionalists like Vince, Ricky Van Shelton, Keith Whitley, Dwight Yoakam and more on legend and hot country stations. Today's AJ and George Straight are fine...Reba is too pop country but still okay...Carrie borders but sounds great and Paisley is the next best thing to happen in neo-tradionalist country and may well be the next generation vince with the guitar and lyrics though not equaled in voice...because Vince's angelic voice is one of a kind that can't be copied. :/

Vince wishes his songs got played more on today's radio but he explains that things are just done different today and he says there were probably plenty of people who got tired of hearing his same songs when he was having his hay day .The man is amazing . I personally can't imagine not wanting to hear his beautiful voice but I can understand even tho I love George Strait,Alan Jackson and a lot of the others at times I do get tired of hearing the same songs .It's part of the difference in how things are done today as opposed to the past .

Yes, it seems that george strait is play heavily at radio yet he has hardly been able to take his singles to the top spot in the past 5 or so years but has barely made it to the top five though climbing clickly to the top 20 while other new artists are struggling to get radio play and vie for more promotion/ fandom.
Think of the age difference between Jake Owen and Strait and even consider each of their current singles "Alone With You" and Love's Gonna Make It Alright". It is clearly evident that Strait's single sounds current lyrically and musically. Vince's recent single "Threaten Me With Heaven" Sounds slightly difference than today's country but still close enough to fall in today's palyed neo-traditional category that features the likes of Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson and still included...George Straight. So Vince and George are somewhere on the same page just different articles.
What Vince needs is... a wider fan base? No, he has a pretty sizeable amount of fans. Comform to today's country (i.e. Taylor Swift)? No, he wouldn't be Vince and his music wouldn't be as great as it is. I think there is no problem wrong except we need to voice our honest professional opinions to radio dj's, execs, promoters and etc. to get his music full promotion and spread out on all country radio stations.

I have voiced my opinion many times .When These Days came out I passed flyers at Walmart trying to get people to just take the flyer not many would take it .I called the radio stations in Phoenix and requested they play Vince and was told that even tho the d j had These Days in his car cd player he had no control over what was played .Has something to do with Clear Channel radio stations ???????????
