My husband and I attended the wonderful Vince show at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California. We had perfect third row seats with a wonderful view of the entire stage.

Ten minutes before the show starts a pseudo-cowboy about 27, 200 lbs, around 6 ft. sits down in front of me. He is wearing a huge cowboy hat, that, needless to say, blocks my view of the center stage. I nicely ask him if he plans to remove his hat during the show and I am told, " No, I do not". I uttered a mild expletive and sat back in my seat.

Ok, ladies and gents, what is the proper procedure to handle this situation. I just traded seats with my husband as he could see over the HAT. What would you have done?

Would have done the same thing as you did trade seats. smile.gif

Me too! What's worse is when you're at a SRO concert and people start pushing into you to get closer to the stage. That happened to my father on Sat. night...after the rodeo let out and the crowd started to really gather, people started pushing to get closer and they were pushing my father and he basically had nowhere to go. I know there is going to be pushing when it's SRO, but don't push someone so close to someone else that there's no 'breathing' room.

Being 4'10" tall, I encounter the same scenario at any event such as a concert.

The last time, there were two cowboys, one taller than the other who seated themselves in front of me. I leaned forward and tapped them and said, "Hey, Sweetie, I'm a little old grandma and only 4'10" tall, and I LOVE Vince Gill, and I can't see - do you think you could lean over once in a while so I could see." I didn't ask them to remove their hats. Both young men quickly removed their hats, changed seats where the shorter one was in front of me, and then later offered to change seats with ME so I wouldn't have to worry trying to see over them, and they wouldn't have a problem at all seeing over me.

It just ALL depends on the person's upbringing, whether or not they will be nice and be courteous to you about the hat thing. Apparently that young man WAS NOT raised right and was a butt head!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So sorry that happened to you. This fired bestamaw up!!!!!!! I don't tolerate rude behavior, at all!!!!

I would have traded seats and forgot about the rude guy up front. His Mama and Daddy must not have taught him manners when he was little.

I could just see you in action now cathy...lol!! Small but mighty you would teach him what manners are...lol!
I think it is so rude when people think they are the only ones there...I am always so aware of people behind me that I tend to move down a little if they can't see. I would have definitely asked an usher to move.
