FORT PIERCE — Country music superstar Vince Gill delighted fans and won new ones with a polished performance at The Sunrise Theatre in Fort Pierce on Tuesday night.
In his Sunrise debut, he demonstrated the range of his talents with a lengthy and intermission-free program of upbeat songs, familiar ballads and foot-stomping bluegrass.
He rendered the upbeat opening number “One More Last Chance,” the slower-tempo “Take Your Memory” and the ballad “Tryin’ To Get Over You” with smooth transitions and effortless ease. He didn’t attempt what he called “full-fledged country” until his fifth number, the cheating song “Pocket Full of Gold.” His first foray into bluegrass came with “High Lonesome Sound,” followed by “Old Time Fiddle,” a song inspired by his childhood experiences listening to a fiddler at potluck dinners.
