Our local paper lists the starting times for all the golfers playing this wonderful four day event..........Vince is listed for all three days of the Pro-AM............nothing on this site alerted me or I would have been there all of the days following him around.

Anyone else know about his appearance here?
TechnicolourDreams
His appearance is noted on the news page of the fan club section

Yes I knew about it too .

I saw Vince playing golf at Peeble Beach today. Later they talked with him and he said it was hard to play when he was thinking of the last time he played there with his father and thinking of John Denver. The guy interviewing him asked what song came to mind when he looked at the scenery and he said "Country Roads" The guy asked if he could sing it and Vince said sure if you sing too. He sang just a few words and laughed and said it had been a great day.

I don't know anything about golf , but what is a scratch golfer ? I was reading something and it said Vince,Kenny G. & Tony Romo were one.

I don't know much about golf either but I have heard over years that Vince is really good .

A scratch golfer is one who shoots par or better. For example, lets say a course has a par of 100, if a golfer shoots a 100 or less, then s/he is a scratch golfer.

To play at the level of a scratch golfer is to play like a professional. Vince has said previously that he would like to play on the Senior or Champions tour..........that is a major step for a golfer. It takes years of practice, hours of dedication to the game, and money.

My husband plays for fun, he has a 22 handicap and that is not very good. I think Amy at once time had like a 19 handicap and for someone that doesn't play often or practice that was very good. I don't know if she still play or has much of a handicap.......it is not an easy game.

I am still upset that I didn't check the schedule of events and missed going down to Monterey..........oh well, I got to spend time with my new granddaughter Mallory, age 5 1/2 months..............and I ask for tickets for July 2 or 3 at the Hollywood Bowl for my birthday..........so I scored with those seats.........lucky me.

Hi to all my VG buddies!

Boy, have I missed being on the message boards with you! My computer is finally home, after almost two months of being on the blink.
It's running like a new one, and I hope I don't have to go through that again for a long time!

It's great to see all of the recent posts, and sort of catch up with the latest. I did know Vince was playing Pebble Beach, and watched the tournament on TV, but he wasn't on sad.gif
I'm pretty convinced Vince loves his golf almost as much as his music, and he's SO accomplished at both! I think it's great! smile.gif

Missed you, and will be a "regular" again now that I can!

Valerie,

I am was behind on reading the board, but I caught Vince on TV playing in the tournament as I knew he was there, but I had to laugh when I saw your explanation of a "scratch" golfer. You did a good job of explaining it by the way, but I laughed at the scenario of having a golf course having a par of 100. That is really high. I was like, tell me where that course is, b/c that's the only place I'd be considered a professional on, laugh.gif, b/c that is about what I shoot on a round of golf. That is the only way I'll probably every be a "scratch" golfer.

Anyway, I wanted you to know what a kick I got out of it. Well with practice maybe one day I'll get under 100, but I'll never be as good as Vince.

I look up Vince's ending scores, and he didn't make it out of the second round so for anyone who regreted no knowing he was there, he only played on the first and second day. but that would have been great to see him in action. I got to see him on TV make a putt or two and that was nice.

Muzette, the only kind of golf I ever play is minature golf, and I figured that 100 was a good even number to use as an example! I'm pretty sure there are no golf courses (even mini golf courses) with a par of 10, so I figured 100 would be the next best number! What can I say...I work in telephone customer service working with numbers and whenever I use examples, I'll use numbers based on 10 or 100 because it's usually a lot easier to figure out!

Oh I thought your example was a great way to explain it, I just wanted you to know you brought a great laugh to my day. And you are exactly right, it is much easier to figure things out in round even #s like 10 or 100 or something like that. I just got tickled by it.

If my golf game doesn't improve soon, I think I may need to join you and just stick to the the minature golf too. Just so you know, I'd say par for most average golf courses is 72, usually somewhere in there (some # I'll never see, LOL)

How long have you worked for the telephone company? I have had alot of members of my family work w/ the telephone company, maybe different than your company, but was just curious if you like it.
I'm a paralegal in a law firm.

Thanks for the interesting conversation about the golf.
