We just got home a little while ago from being in Niagara Falls last night. As always....Vince definitely did not dissapoint. It was such a great concert followed by a really nice visit with Vince. Vince played alot of his older slower songs as well as a good mix of some of his upbeat stuff. He didn't really play very much from These Days...which I love but he did play 2 of his new songs and I expecially love "Threaten me with heaven" We all know that Vince has a huge heart and often gets emotional but last night he really had a hard time and my heart just broke for him. He told some great new stories about his dad which lead him to really break down which lead to a really nice standing ovation. Afterwards Vince came out and told us that his friend "Will Owsley" had died yesterday and he sang "Threaten me with heaven" as a tribute. Will played in Amy's band and also co-wrote "Threaten me with heaven" with Vince. Vince had a very hard time getting through the song and I don't think there was a dry eye in the house. You could tell he had a very hard day after hearing the news of Will. He recovered beautifully and somehow was able to put his emotions aside to put on an incredible show. His singing was flawless and he gave it his all for the crowd. Vince is a shadow of himself and in the best shape I have seen him for many years.
I was able to go backstage and talk with him after the show and it was just like catching up with an old friend. He told me of the news about Will and we talked about Jenny's wedding and about the Fan Club party in June. It was so nice to just have a relaxing chat before he left to head back to Nashville. We hung out with Kathy (so happy to have spent some time with you girl) and Benny (such a great man) and talked and hung out until wayy too late. We brought friends with us who had never seen Vince in concert and they were blown away and really enjoyed the night.
Always fun to bring people that truly appreciate the talent and music.
Anyways....it was a great night and one that I won't forget anytime soon.

Jenny he just said that he was handing her off...lol! And that he wouldnt' be singing at the wedding as they have hired a band. We talked about what a beautiful bride she was going to be.

Thanks girls....it really was a great night. My heart went out to Vince as he struggled but of course he pulled through it and everyone was raving about him.
Yes anna....it is always fun to see people react so positively to Vince. People just don't realize how good he is until they see him live. biggrin.gif
I can't wait until June either....can't believe it is just over a month away.

Leah - so glad you had such a special night. I love "Threaten Me with Heaven" - love the lyrics and the melody. I've read it will be on his new CD - hope so. My mother died March 21st, and I would have loved to have had a copy of that song for her service. My daughter recorded Vince singing it on the Opry but it has some static in it.

So sorry to hear about your mother Sandy...while Vince was singing I was thinking about what a great song it would be at a funeral. The words are so beautiful and I can't wait to hear more of it.

Wow, Leah, it sounds like you had a really great night. Its a really nice feeling having a great concert knowing all night you get to go talk to him after the show. I love to hear the stories.

The news of Will's passing was very fresh to Vince that night at the concert, and especially him singing "Threaten Me With Heaven".
He co-wrote that song with Will. God bless him and Amy and Will's family during this incredible grief.

leah, your review was great!! it sounds like you had an incredible night with Vince. I just love the way that Vince is such a caring man, and the fact that he "shows" his emotion just makes him all the more special. He and Amy have had so many losses lately. And now, the flooding in Nashville (and all of TN). Thanks again for sharing.

Thanks so much Leah. You are a lucky girl to get to talk to Vince like that!I would cherish that forever.

Glad to share the night with all of you! Vince is an amazing guy and I have never been more proud to be a fan. biggrin.gif

Thank you for a great review and all the details. Keeps us feeling almost like we could have been there. Vince is truly a one-of-a-kind entertainer. Maybe we will get some pictures soon of Jenny's wedding?

Leah, Thank you for sharing that great review of the concert. Certainly sounded emotional and what a wonderful tribute to Will. Don't know how
he and Amy were able to sing at Will's funeral either but, I'm glad they did sharing the words they co-wrote.
Glad you were able to attend and how fun that you got to talk with Vince after the show.
Always fun to hear more stories about Vince's Dad too.

Hilary
Wow. I haven't been able to check in with my friends here in awhile and knew there was so much news to catch up on... but this, about his (and Amy's) friend Will was something I'd missed. This has definitely been a jam-packed-full-of-emotions time for the Gills.
