Mayor Karl Dean officially named this week "Vince Gill Week" in Nashville in honor of the country singer.

Gill has been on the Nashville music scene since 1983, and is always honoring his adopted home town.

The country music entertainer and his wife, Amy Grant, have spent years giving back to Music City and surrounding communities.

Gill has done benefit work for flood relief, mental health, children's advocacy, Alzheimer's research, cancer research, junior golf and other causes.
