all the other guitar greats! I have seen most all of the great guitar players of our time. As Vince mentioned most of all the "Guitar Heros" are Rock guitarists. I have seen Eric Clapton, Eric Johnson,Larry Carlton, Steve Vai, Steve Lukather, Jeff Beck, Tony Iommi, Angus Young, David Gilmour, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Liefson, Vernon Reid, Mick Ronson, Ritchie Blackmore, Steve Morse, Pete Townshend, Joe Perry, Michael Schenker, Kenny Wayne Shepard, James Burton, Billy Gibbons, Carlos Santana, Steve Cropper, BB King, Dick Dale, Buddy Guy, Pat Travers, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Gary Moore, Andy Summers, Leslie West, Michael Landau, Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose, Albert Collins and even more Rock guys mostly. (Sorry didn't realize the list was so long!) I have seen more than a few of those guys ten times PLUS! My point is when these names get thrown around Vince's name should be mentioned. He is better than some, just as good as some, in the same league as some, better than some in certain areas and just a notch under some. So I can say I would have an educated opinion on this subject!

Knowing vertily nothing about any of the above mentioned musicians I totally agree with you Reggie .Meaning even knowing less than just about anyone even I can see, hear that Vince is an excellent musician and most diffinitely should be mentioned along with these people ....IMO it's the "country"label before/after .I have had so many people who are not into country music be slack jawed amazed at his playing ability .

You are %100 correct. My neighbors are a perfect example. They stood next to me at the Troubadour about 7 feet from Vince. They liked some of his songs and thought he was "good" going into the show. They were blown away as to how good he was.

I don't know nearly as much about guitar players and music as you Reggie, but I totally agree with you 100%!!! Plus I always hear people in articles and things that do know music like you saying that Vince is really at the top of the game as a guitar player!! I don't understand why he gets overlooked on these things...and radio as well, but thats a whole other can of worms...ugh!!! Vince is SO SO talented I know for sure he amazes me!!!

[font=Franklin Gothic Medium] Double R I would say you must be around the same age as myself 59 I have seen quite a few of the guitarist's mentioned by you and I have always appreciated a good player. Vince is right on up there with most, better than some but still is hardly recogonized as a great player in his own "world" and I think it's why he dosn't always make himself available to the Country awards shows. Brad and Keith are the hot ticket items now and are getting all the press. When are they going to step up and sing his praises he paved their way. I have said before I will never take anything away from these fine players but please I hope it doesn't take what they did for Glen Campbell for him to be honored. There was Chet and then Vince and the reat are catching up and I think Vince is playing better than Chet could have right now but he will never admit it. By the way RR I hope you worked those venues thats a lot of concert tickets you ahd to buy. Happy Holidays rolleyes.gif

Nope. I've paid for most of the shows I went to in my life. But I did have a recent run of about 8 or 10 shows that I didn't have to pay for. But of course I had to travel to Oregon,Ohio, Michigan,Arizona & Maryland to see them!

Faceofanangel,

When they held the TNN Music City News Awards back in the 90s, Vince won several Instrumentalist Awards. The instrumentalist awards they give on the CMAs are mainly for session musicians, those musicians who are in the background and not out in front of the audience, like Vince, Keith & Brad.
