Well, Vince does move up one spot to # 41 on the R&R chart and it seems stuck at # 36 on the media base chart....
I am still at a loss that after 12 weeks why it is hovering at the bottom of the "Top 40".
I would hope after these radio programmer "genious" types see the success of the box set wake up and play Vince a bit more!
Let's see - universal praise from fans and critics. # 1 on Amazon - seems to be flying off the shelves.
Hmmmmm.....sounds like Vince is "hot" enough for "hot" country stations...

Charlie I have requested "The Reason Why" over and over at my local stations...I don't know WHY they won't play him???

The only reason would be they believe Vince is not the "current" hot product on radio....so much music - so little airtime space.
Too bad, Vince deserves more airtime. However, I do believe he will have a breakout single (or two, or three) from this set...just not sure if it will be the current one - or if it will even be a "hit" on "country" radio....
Let's keep requesting it!

I have finally gotten some request played on one station. I've been trying so hard to get them to play it but seems I only hear it on one of the stations. I like the afternoon DJ,Stu Evans is really nice about it. He and Gwen Foster has finally come through with putting it on their play list. Not enough though. Dave Pratt on KMLE Country loves Vince but is not the P.D. for the station. I am still working on it. You just can't talk long enough and a lot of my e-mails have been returned .

Just curious...does anyone know? IF Vince Gill say sells 50,000 copies of "These days" in the first week....does he get credit for selling 250,000 CD's?
(since there are 4 CD's to the set).
If so...is that reflected in his chart position on Billboard?
I hope so! If that's the case he would have no problem being # 1 on the full chart and the country sales chart....
But, part of me says that may not be the case.

I'm not sure Charlie- I know at one time iit was done that way, but I don't think it is anymore. I predict that Vince will be at #1 on next week's Country Album Chart and in the top 3 of the Billboard 200.

I was worried that maybe Jimmy Buffet (is he really country)
might outsell Vince and maybe Dierks Bently's new one (he does have a song closing in on # 1 on radio)....
I too think he will be #1 on Country charts (but a strong showing will make me happy) and the regular chart I hope he is at least in the "Top 10"....
However, I like your predictions better # 1 and # 3

I'm pretty sure the whole set is considered as '1' CD on the chart, even though there are 4 CDs in the set. I also think that Vince will be #1 on the country album chart, and from the way the pre-sales were going, I'd have to agree with Mary Anne as being in the top 3 of the BB Top 100.

One of the reasons I asked also is that it reminded me of the George Strait box that had a set of all his # 1 songs - 5 CDs I think. It shows as selling 5 million copies (I honestly do not think it sold 5 million but sold 1 million sets at X 5 CD's)....
So not sure if it affects chart position or not - but I think it might affect how they rate it a gold, platinum or multi platinum by the RIAA....
Take care,

Just FYI Dierks Bentley is outselling Vince on Itunes. For some reason Dierks is in the "pop" category and is the # 7 CD overall....Vince is in the "country" category and # 25 overall.
So Vince is # 3 in "country" there and Dierks does not show up as he is labeled "pop"...

As far as gold & platinum if Vince sells 50,000 copies its 50,000 x 4 or 200,000 units sold

It's possible that when it comes to gold & plantinum, the RIAA looks at each CD in a box set individually...but when it comes to chart numbers, I'm not sure it's looked at in the same way...I would think because of the way the SoundScan system works, it would log the 4 albums as a total of 1 "unit" being sold, then the RIAA could multiply the number of sales by the total number of albums in the set.

I agree

Let's hope it enters high in the charts and hits multi platinum by Christmas! Go Vince!

FYI - "The Reason Why" finally makes a move above #35 on the media charts up to #33....maybe the CD publicity, tour, upcoming video and radio station interviews are finally paying off!
Maybe country radio will finally start to put the song into heavier rotation.
You may just be right Mary Anne - this song will slowly rise to the TOP

Also - These Days set has now been the # 1 seller on Amazon for 4 straight days!
It also says, "Only 4 left in stock--order soon. " (shouldn't they order more if they (Amazon) only has 4 left!!!)
(And MCA better start creating more and shipping them out too!)

Agreed....
Also AMAZON now says:
"Availability: In stock on October 27, 2006. Order it now. Ships from and sold by Amazon.com.
Only 4 left in stock--order soon." So those 4 will sell today and Amazon will not have more in stock for 5 more days....

I hope that does not deter anyone from buying (having to wait) or affect his overall sales!

I was talking to someone on a country music list that I belong to...she said that this was one album she wanted to get...she doesn't buy everything, but this was one she was looking forward to. I told her to go out and get it NOW before they sell out and told her how FYE.com and Walmart.com were sold out, and it was ranked #1 on Amazon.com...well, I told her today that Amazon only had 4 copies left..she said she went out and bought it at Walmart and she got the last copy they had! So we know another store somewhere sold out!

WOW! This is very exciting hearing how the box set is selling out here and there!!! I am just pulling and hoping for great results, sales and chart-wise, for this unprecedented project by our guy. I still haven't even made it all the way through all four CDs - I love them all so much, I keep playing them over and over and still have "The Groovy" one to go!! As far as the slow progress for "The Reason Why" on the charts - jut remember that Steve Holy's "Brand New Girlfriend" spent 16 weeks on the Billboard chart before even cracking the Top 40, and made it all the way to the top. Sometimes slow is better. Keep your fingers crossed and keep those requests coming!

Watching "The Reason Why" on the media chart - it just cannot seem to rise above mid 30's....It went as high as # 32 then back down to #36 then back up to # 34....with minimal play increases.... it just hovers there.
Does not seem to be picking up major steam (at least yet)...maybe the video will help.
FYI - Alan's like read on a Rose - seems to have peaked at about 13 and is headed down ( a shame for him not to get a "Top 10") jmho

Charlie,
The "mediabase chart" fluctuates daily- if you click on "published" you will get the weekly chart position. This week it's still at #36(I think, I don't know if I checked it yesterday or not). But, on the "daily chart" today, it had moved up to #34. I know that WXTU has increased its airplay- moving it into "medium" rotation and playing it 3 times a day since yesterday. As he plays in the various cities, the airplay will increase there too.

That's good news, Mary Anne...looking for it to increase in airplays as more people see the video. I hate the fact that we are such a 'visual world' these days, but whatever works...

I tried accessing the Mediabase charts, but all I get is an error message, but I did find a Country Breakout chart, dated Oct. 20...here's the stats...the chart position isn't very good right now, but it is increasing in spins:
8 weeks on chart
51 peak
53 last week
51 peak
640/43 spins/reports
4 spin power %
+23 increase/decrease in spins
617 Last wk # spins

I listen to WXTU, and today they mentioned Vince's new cd, and said something positive about it and the charts. I didn't catch it all. I hope it does well. It's a great set, so many wonderful songs. I hope it really does well for Vince. He deserves it. We all know he is the best.

You bet.
FYI: It was #1 on Amazon for 4 days - until they ran out and said "4-6 weeks"....now it has dropped to # 13 on Amazon.
On the Barnes & Noble site it always hovered between # 3 and # 4 and is now still at # 6 (and they have it in stock).
My moral of the story is: You will sell more of what you have!
I have already complained to MCA via email and to Amazon over the phone. I just needed to vent.
